Kolkata, Dec 19, 2012 (Washington Bangla Radio) The man behind the success of Mr. India, the producer and celebrity husband of famous actress Sridevi, Boney Kapoor visited Kolkata on 7th December to support and promote the Celebrity Cricket League T20. Boney Kapoor has been the franchiser of the Bengal team i.e. ‘Bengal Tigers’ since its season 1.

Boney flew down to Kolkata to cheer his time at the practice session and expressed his belief to WBRi, “Though last year at the CCL 2 Bengal Tigers could not do well to mark their good standing, this year at the season 2 of Bengal Tigers, they would be playing hard to ‘take u turn’ and enjoy the spirit of cricket. We are sure that we will play the finals. I am very optimistic about my team Bengal Tiger.”

When asked about different things like his next project of the tinsel town, the success of his wife Sridevi in her latest film ‘English Vinglish’ and the very much talked about film of 2013 Mr. India 2, he preferred keeping himself mum on the topics saying he just would talk about only cricket this time. He said that Bengal is a sports loving state, and has produced some brilliant players like Sourav Ganguly. He also felt if the practice session was such enjoyable, the real matches against the different celebrity teams would be much more extravagant than the previous seasons.

This time celebrity cricket league reached its optimum level when 22 players selected from the celebs and known faces from the small and silver screen were finalized for the Bengal Tigers, Season 3. At first 20 names were announced for Bengal Tigers, but later on two more names were added. Arjun and Gaurav Chakraborty the duo celebrity sons of ‘Feluda’ Sabyasachi Chakraborty would be playing for the third season of CCL.

Formerly Sourav Ganguly along with Tollywood superstar Prosenjit Chatterjee were the brand ambassadors of The Bengal Tigers. At the formal launch of the team Sourav Ganguly, Boney Kapoor along with his superstar wife Sridevi were present. At the season 1 of the Bengal Tigers Sambaran Banerjee, Bengal’s Ranji Trophy winning captain and former India cricketer Deep Das Gupta acted as a consultant advisor to the team. But this year there is a slight change in the team management. Deep Dasgupta and Sushil Sikariya would be the new selectors for the Bengal team season 2.

Jeet has been retained as the captain of the team. Jishu Sengupta the other strength of the team was also selected as the vice- captain like the previous year. While leading the  team in the absence of Jeet, vice captain  Jisshu told the media, “We are the actors, not players. It is a new platform to us. Last year we were informed about the formation of our Bengal team just before 21 days of the formal matches against the other celebrity teams and overall CCL 2. We did not get much time for practice or to understand the team’s strategy at the Chnnaswami Stadium in front of the thousands of spectators. So this year we are playing hard and want to prove our spirit. In this third season of CCL and second season of Bengal Tigers two more players have joined us today. One is Gaurav Chakraborty and another is Arjun Chakraborty both the sons of Sabyasachi da. Today we are 22 players are playing for the day and amongst us 15 will be selected to play against the other teams at CCL 3”.

Arup Biswas , the Minister of State for Housing and Youth Affairs graced the occasion interacting with Boney  and even played some masters strokes at the 22 yards. He also expressed his hopes that the organisers would try to make one of the CCL 3 matches to be organized at the Eden Gardens.

The teams participating in CCL 3 are Mumbai Heroes, Telegu Warriors, Chennai Rhinos, Karnatka Bulldozers, Kerala Strikers, Bhojpuri Dabangg, Veer Marathi and of course Bengal Tigers.
