Actress Priyanka Chopra Excited to Play Olympic Medalist Mary Kom in Bhansali’s Film Directed Omung Bhandula

Mumbai, Dec 10, 2012 (Washington Bangla Radio) Inspired by Olympic medalist Mary Kom 's climb to the top, Indian Bollywood film producer Sanjay Leela Bhansali announced his next film - a biopic based on her life, directed by Omung Kumar Bhandula.
And while Priyanka Chopra was zeroed in to essay the highly coveted role, it was only just recently that the actress met with Mary Kom while they attended the narration of the script.
Talking about the challenge that the role entails, Priyanka said “For me, the most exciting thing is to physically look like Mary. I need to be as fit as her, get hand movements right and also adopt a similar body language. I am not a workout person and I don’t really go to the gym regularly. While I’m really excited to start the training, I’m scared at the same time as Mary’s schedule says three hours of workout, and waking up at 4 in the morning.”
Initially overwhelmed with the suggestion of the biopic, Mary Kom divulges “I thought Omung and Sanjay Leela Bhansali were joking. For a moment, I didn’t react. Finally, we started working and had several discussions. Omung came to Manipur and noted down my life history”.
“I am very happy and lucky that Priyanka is doing the film”, added Kom.
