Kolkata, Dec 9 (IBNS): Huawei Technologies, the world's No 2 telecoms equipment maker, expects its enterprise business in India to grow exponentially, clocking revenues of $1 billion by 2015, a senior executive said in Kolkata on Friday.
Shenzhen-based Huawei debuted its enterprise business unit in India in September this year, and in the first year of its operations ending December 2012, plans to post a revenue of $200 million, Eric Yu, President of Huwei’s Enterprise Business said.
The enterprise business unit, that provides equipment such as hubs, routers and switches that run networks transferring data across corporations and also software to do so, has already set a $7 billion revenue target by 2012 and $15 billion by 2015 for its worldwide operations.
“We estimate India’s enterprise technology market to be at $10 billion, growing at 15 to 20 percent annually,” Yu said, adding that the figure was based on the combined revenues of the top ten players in the segment, that includes firms like IBM and Hewitt-Packard among others.
He said that of its 2015 target, the company expected $200 to $300 million in deals to come from the government sector while $300 to $400 million could come from large corporations, and the rest from small and medium sized businesses.
Huawei is already in talks with the state governments of Gujarat and West Bengal and sees its products and solutions implemented in fledgling initiatives like electronic governance and education, besides public sector undertakings that work in energy and infrastructure.
The company is banking on pricing its products more competitively and also on more lucrative profit sharing models with partners and distributors to fuel its growth, that will see the company raise its headcount in India to more than 1,000 from its current 200, by 2015.
