Calcutta, Dec 26, 2010 (Washington Bangla Radio) The Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) is a unique institution devoted to the research, teaching and application of statistics, natural sciences and social sciences founded by Professor P.C. Mahalanobis in Kolkata on 17th December, 1931. The venerable institute of international repute gained the status of an Institution of National Importance by an act of the Indian Parliament in 1959.

The institute is organizing INTEGRATION 2011, their annual techno-cultural fest - one of the biggest fests in East India, during January 13 - 16 at the ISI Campus (Bonhoogli) at 203 -206, B. T. Road, Kolkata 700108, West Bengal, India.

Highlights of INTEGRATION 2011 include (following text is as received from the event organizers by WBRi:)

·    Prahelika – the biggest campus quiz in eastern India, both in terms of the immense prize money and huge participation. Last time we recorded about 200 teams from East Indian colleges only. This year we are inviting 200 colleges in West Bengal alone, and 200 more all over India, and also we have opened the quiz for schools this year. Thus, we are expecting at least double to triple the participation, or even more. It is the only general quiz hosted by Harsha Bhogle.

·    Panel Discussion – A talk show, to be conducted by Mr. Harsha Bhogle, where the guests include our Hon’ble Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Jairam Ramesh & Arun Shourie from the political side, whereas, Sourav Ganguly & Anupam Kher from the entertainment side. The topic being EXPECTATION FROM FUTURE LEADERS.

·    Showdown guest performances on each night include The Colors, Hip Pocket & Fossils, and also a famed chhou dance group performing live.

·    CNN-IBN and NDTV have both offered to be our television partners, and would like to telecast the Panel Discussion, and snippets of other programs, in return of advertising.

With about other 20 competitive events, the ISI expects about 2000 participants, on campus, and more than double the footfall. Moreover, for online events they strive to reach a participation of about 25,000 all over the world.
