Runway (2010) - A Tareque Masud Film from Bangladesh

Calcutta, Dec 21, 2010 (Washington Bangla Radio) International award-winning Bangladeshi indie film-maker Tareque Masud came into global recognition with his Matir Moyna (The Clay Bird) and Muktir Gaan, among his critically acclaimed films. His latest film Runway has been well appreciated and Bengali film-lovers are awaiting his next Kagojer Phool.

Runway focuses on the difficult subject of Islamist terrorism, and recruitment of struggling young men by Islamic terrorist organizations falsely providing an illusion of purpose in life by inductance into terrorism. The protagonist of the film does not complete his madrasa education, is jobless and wandering, thus ripe for picking by fundamentalists. Eventually, a promising young and capable man is lost to a misguided cause and indoctrination.

The star-cast includes Fazlul Haque, Rabeya Akter Moni, Ali Ahsan, Nazmul Huda Bachchu, Nasrin Akter, Rikita Nandini Shimu, Moslem Uddin,  Jayanto Chattopadhyay, Nusrat Imroj Tisha and more. The film is produced by Catherine Masud.
