New Delhi, Jan 30 (IBNS) Indian external affairs ministry will not condone its diplomats and officials misbehaving with women or indulging in sexual misconduct, a warning statement by the foreign secretary said.

According to media reports, Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao has issued a stern  statement to officials forewarning them of the consequences that might follow such acts.

The warning came in the wake of recent misconducts by diplomats, including the wife beating case in London and misdemeanor on a flight by another diplomat. 

Rao's letter says: "The Ministry will deal with incidents of sexual misconduct and domestic violence with zero tolerance and will take punitive measures against offending officials."

"Any act of domestic violence or sexual misconduct will necessitate immediate recall of the officer and his dependents," her statement adds.
 
The Indian external affairs earlier recalled a diplomat- Alok Ranjan Jha- posted in New York after his alleged misbehaviour in a drunken state with Air India attendants and wife of another IAS officer on a flight to New York. 

Jha  also reportedly had created problems at the John F Kennedy International Airport in New York. 

Earlier, a controversy raged over India's London based diplomat Anil Verma who has been accused of beating his wife and then took diplomatic immunity to avoid the law of UK.
