Mrinal Sen retrospective at the 14th Kerala Film Festival - The 14th IFFK 2009

IFFK 2009 PosterThe 14th IFFK will be held at Thiruvananthapuram (erstwhile Trivandrum), the state capital of Kerala, India from 11th - 18th December 2009.

The annual International Film Festival of Kerala is organized by the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy, Department of Cultural Affairs, Government of Kerala. The festival is recognized by the FIAPF.

IFFK boast’s of an exclusive and extremely popular Competition section restricted to films produced or co produced in ASIA, AFRICA & LATIN AMERICA within the last year of the festival cycle. The usual sections include world cinema, documentaries (in film formats), short fiction (in film formats), retrospectives, homage’s and tributes.

Bengali films to be shown at the 14th Kerala Film  Festival 2009 include films like Calcutta My Love/ Kaalbela by Goutam Ghosh starring Parambrata Chatterjee and Paoli Dam, Maya Bazaar by Joydeep Ghosh and many more.

A special Mrinal Sen retrospective will include Calcutta 71  (1972), In search of famine  - Aakaler Sandhane (1980), This is my land - Aamar Bhuban (2002), The Confined - Antareen (1993), Ek Din Pratidin -  A day like any other (1979) and many Hindi films from the acclaimed director.

Paresh Mokash's Harishchandra’s Factory - Harishchandrachi Factory - the USA Academy Awards (Oscar) 2009 official entry from India about the life of Indian Cinema's father Dadasaheb Phalke will also be shown.
