The Youth Guild for Friendship enters its 30th Anniversary on 1st December, 2009. It was founded to strengthen the bond of friendship and cooperation among the youth of Russia and the State of West Bengal, India. In the year 1980, a group of students and youth of Kolkata initiated the "Youth Guild” to promote peace, friendship and co-operation in collaboration with Cultural Department of the Russian Consulate General in Kolkata. The inaugural ceremony was held on the 1 st December, 1980 at Gorky Sadan. The Youth Guild organized seminars on important issues of the time chaired by eminent speakers from India and the then USSR and different cultural programs.

The Youth Guild resumed actively functioning in June 2001, with plans to meet at Gorky Sadan to discuss club activities, organize cultural programs, competitions and symposiums related to Indo-Russian Friendship.

The Youth Guild for Friendship is organizing a social and cultural event starting from 1st December 2009. This event shall run throughout the year (i.e. 1st December, 2009 to 1st December, 2010).

YOUTH GUILD FOR FRIENDSHIP & RUSSIAN CENTRE FOR SCIENCE AND CULTURE IN KOLKATA (CALCUTTA) request the pleasure of your company at the Inaugural Ceremony of the 30th Anniversary of the Youth Guild for Friendship at Gorky Sadan on Tuesday 1 December 2009 at 5-30pm.

• Mr. V. V. Lazarev, Consul General of Russia will grace the ceremony as Guest-in-Chief.

• Mr. Suresh Man Sreshtha, Consul General of Nepal will grace the occasion as Guest of Honour.

• Swami Sarvabhutananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Cultural, Mr. Ashim Kumar Roy, Justice, Kolkata High Court, Mr. A. V. Mazirka, Director, Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Kolkata will attend the inaugural function as Honoured Guest.
  

• Mr. Biman Basu, Patron of Youth Guild for Friendship, Mr. Pradip Bhattacharya, Patron of Youth Guild for Friendship, Mr. Sukhendu Sekhar Roy, Patron of Youth Guild for Friendship will attend the function as Special Guest.
  

• Mr. Jnan Maity, Chairman, 30th Anniversary Committee, Mr. Jiban Sen, Working President, 30th Anniversary Committee will grace the function with Honoured Presence.
  

• Mr. Tarun Chatterjee, President, Youth Guild for Friendship will preside over the function.

 The Inaugural Ceremony will be followed by Felicitation to Eminent Cultural & Social Personalities and Colourful Cultural Presentation to mark the opening of 30th Anniversary Celebration of Youth Guild for Friendship.
