Memorial Meet at Kolkata Press Club at the Demise of Renowned Journalist and Author Sri Debashish Bandyopadhya.

A heart-rending memorial meet was organised at the Press Club, Kolkata, by "Arjo Potro" on Nov 7th to pay homage to the loss of one of its very distinguished member, accomplished writer and reputed journalist Sri Debashish Bandyopadhya. He has been the editor of  the  popular magazine "Anando Mela" for many years.  His interests in language and culture were varied and has contributed immensely to the Bengali literature and the literary world through his numerous novels, short stories, poetry and research work in the folk arts of Bengal. He has also  made several award winning documentary films , " A Doll's House", "Calcutta Zero Mile" and " Children of Umang lies", which are testimonial to his efforts to conserve and preserve folk arts of Bengal. This solemn service was a walk down memory lane  by those who knew him closely and worked with him life long. The Late writer and author's  works and achievements were highlighted along with his great humble and humane qualities.   The commemoration ceremony  was presided by editor of " Ei Shomoy" Sri Sumon chattopadhya. Noted Speakers and guests included many  a luminaries  like Sri Shirshendu Mukhopadhya , who reminisced his long years of association and personal relationship with Sri Debashish Bandyopadya. Other distinguished journalists and dignitaries  present were Sri Chittaranjan Biswas, Sri Kalyan Mzumdar, Sri Gautam Sarkar, Sri Sukumar Samajpati, Sri Sambaran Banerjee, Sri Manash Chakraborty and Sri Rajaditya Banerjee, youngest son of Sri Debashish Bandyopadhya. It was a very poignant and heart-wrenching mournful moment for all who attended as this  day happened to be the first death anniversary of his renowned film maker son Sri Bappaditya Bandyopadya. A heartfelt and worthy tribute was paid to the two prolific persona of our times and it has been a grievous , unfortunate and irreparable loss to the literary world.
