Both Atol and Tupur had lost their parents when they were too young to understand the heft of it. Since then they were groomed under the guidance of their joint family members which was another integral character of those days' Kolkata people.

The story actually takes us back to the era of mid 90s when Bengalis were much busy with their family fun, social functions and the children were mesmerized with the magic of ‘hide and seek’ and street cricket. Our protagonist Atolanto is a symbol of those days' Bengali simplicity and innocence.

He falls in love with a girl his same age who suddenly arrives from Delhi to their locality. Atol could understand the new girl Papiya might like him but strongly detests the pandemonium of 90s Kolkata especially the hazards of daily power cuts.

This is when Atol starts struggling to convince his love not only about his personal feelings but also about the beauty of his city. He tries so hard that the little Papiya who always used to miss her Delhi and disliked Kolkata’s civic shortcomings, starts liking the city of joy and falls in love with the intense moments which Atol gifts her in the power cut afternoons.

When the love triangle of Atol, Papiya and Kolkata was just perfectly placed the story takes an U-turn being disrupted with an accident which takes away Atol’s vision. Little Papiya promises not leave him and encourages Atol to fight the ‘Load Shedding’ of his vision.

Papiya tried to relate to Atols blindness with Kolkata’s power cut and reminds Atol of words which he himself had once said to Papiya – “Load shedding happens not for sufferings but to realize the value of light when it would come back again”.
