GIFT’s Explodia and LG Mallika-e-Kitchen celebrates creativity in fashion and food

Kolkata, November 26 (Washington Bangla Radio): Two distinct events took place in the city which celebrated creativity. One is the annual graduation fashion show of Global Institute of Fashion Design and the other is the Zonal round of LG’s largest annual cooking contest Mallika-e-Kitchen 2013. The two events provided scope to the participants to showcase their creativity in the respective fields.


LG Electronics India today kicked off the zonal rounds of LG’s prestigious and largest annual cooking contest Mallika-e-Kitchen 2013. This competition provided an unparalleled opportunity for East zone women to showcase their cooking talent to win the title of ‘India’s Mallika-E-Kitchen Cooking Queen.’Judged by cooking expert Mrs Rukma Dakshi and Chef Kuntal Das, the Zonal round marks the second step towards the Grand finale of the cooking campaign in New Delhi on 15th November.To compete in the national round of LG Mallika-e-kitchen, 8 finalists were shortlisted from the East zone. The winner Malvika Neerjesh, the 1st runner-up Nilanjana Das and the 2nd runner-up Sonia Bhattarcharjee will now compete with contestants of other zones for the title of Mallika-E-Kitchen Cooking Queen 2013. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Ranjit Kumar, Regional Manager East, LG India said; “We are pleased to successfully complete the Zonal round of LG Mallika-e-Kitchen 2013 and proceed on to the Grand Finale. Mallika-e-Kitchen is an endeavor to promote healthy cooking talents in India. This contest provides a platform to the amateur cooking talents of India, to step out of their house and showcase their skills. Over the years the response has been remarkable and with each passing year we have attain new heights of success.The journey to become the Cooking Queen does not end here. The National Winner will get a chance to represent India at“Global LG Home Chef Championship” to be held at South Africa.

In another event Global Institute of Fashion Technology presented the 13th Annual Graduation fashion show- Explodia- 13 at a glamorous event held at City Centre, Salt Lake. The event was judged by Miss Chandrrani Singh Flora, a designer who has showcased he work in the Wills Fashion Week, Miss Sejal Kanoi, another designer who specializes in couture for women, actor Rudranil Ghosh and Mr. J. N. Vohra.

The annual event showcases the creativity of the graduating students. With the help of the teachers, designers and the models, the event is a grand show. The show provides a platform to the upcoming talents. The fashion show had eighteen themes. Some of the themes which won the most applause from the audience include Baby’s day out, Shahnai, fairy tales, Greek goddess, Aftershock and Gothic. The winners of this event was fairy tales in the best commercial category, gothic in the best creative category and for the overall theme presentation, the award went to Potochitra.
