Kolkata, November 20 (Washington Bangla Radio): Upcoming film by director GauravPandey is hailed as the “saga of an ordinary man with an extraordinary voyage”. The film which has impressed both the audience and the jury at the 66th Annual Cannes Film Festival, is finally ready for release in Kolkata. The press conference of the film took place recently at Minus 6 Degree in the presence of Prasenjit Chatterjee, Koushik Sen, Rudranil Ghosh, Mousumi  Bhattacharya, Namit Bajoria and the director Gaurav Pandey.

Speaking on the occasion Prasenjit Chatterjee said “When Gaurav offered me the script of the film, I was completely blown away. I play a school teacher, Anjani Putra who lives a simple life in a village called Swarnakamalpur. His life changes when he meets a stranger. In today’s stressful life people have forgotten how to laugh. Gaurav has done a wonderful job with the script and I am sure the audience will be in splits”. The actor also thanked the producer Namit Bajoria for his faith in the script and for his financial support that he gave to this film. “Without the financial support, the film would not have been complete. The cost in Iceland is very high. It is six times highly priced when compared with India. Shooting there therefore is a challenge which we took up and Namit’s support is of much help” added the actor.

The film which has been hailed as an international film is not international only because of the foreign location, but due to the way the story has been assembled and presented to the audience. “It is true that no Bengali film has been shot there. But merely the location does not make the film an international film. The treatment of the story, the global cast- all these elements make the film an international film” said GauravPandey. The film has crew not only from Bengal but also from Berlin and the film has been shot for fifteen days in Iceland and the rest has been shot in various parts of Bengal.

Music is also of prime importance in Indraadip Dasgupta who has composed the music of the film said “The music in the film gives an international flavor to the audience. The Indian songs have been given a western touch by mixing it with western elements. For example, the song IkirMikir has been used with hip hop. This has altogether changed the feel of the song. Arijit Singh, Sayani Palit has lent their voices to the songs in the film. Momo Chitte sung by Sayani has been shot in a Berlin water tank.

Kaushik Sen who plays an important role in the film smiled when asked about his character in “You have always seen me doing sophisticated roles. Even in my last few releases I have played the typical good middle class men but this image will be broken down in this film. The kind of role that Gaurav offered me struck me as different and hence I have done the role. I will not reveal much and leave the audience to decide my acting”.

Rudranil Ghosh, Mousumi Bhattacharya, German actor Saskia Ranwig will also be seen playing  pivotal roles in the film.

The film is slated for release on the 6th of December.
