Kolkata, November 18 (Washington Bangla Radio): The grand music launch of the much anticipated movie “The Play” took place at Princeton Club. The whole cast and crew of the film was present at the event. The movie is directed by debutant director Ranajay Rc who claimed to fame with his short film ‘39 Canel Street’. The film stars Rajesh Sharma, Mumtaz Sorcar, Indrasish Roy, Neel Mukherjee, Rajdeep Gupta along with others. The film is being produced by Antidote Entertainment.
The crafter behind the music of the film is ace music director Joy Sarkar. He said “As a music director of this film, I am glad to work with a bunch of new talents who possibly are the future stars of the Bengali music industry. I have tried to create new age sound cape specially dedicated to new generation.”
When asked about his inspiration for his love in music, Joy Sarkar revealed that it is Indian music that he cherishes most. He further added that Indian music is diversified with so many forms and probably associated with innumerable musicians. So he cannot think of any inspiration from other than Indian music.
There are four songs in the film beside the theme music. All the tunes have both the Indian and Latin American flavor. The genres include new age music, folk rock and fusion to give the film the vibrant feel.
The new talented playback singers includes Anusree, Timir, Kushal, Somchanda and of course the maestro Joy Sarkar himself. Bhromor koio giya sree has been sung by Anusree, Ekta behisabi din asche- a duet by Somchanda and Timir, K barabe haath by Kushal and Joy Sarkar himself has hone the playback for the title track Megh Kuyashay.
Ranajoy RC told the media “the music of the film is going to e the USP of the movie. The theme music just touches the perfect chord and blends with the mood of the film. I am grateful to Joy Sarkar for bringing out the pulse for my movie.” He further told “thriller genre is something which fascinates me a lot and it was really an awesome experience to work with people nearly of my same age.”
When asked about whether the audience will get to see his paintings in the movie or not, he said “Yes, we have some scenes where people will see my works and even at the premiere we, the whole team are planning to distribute some of my work in graphical prints to the audience.”Lyricist Rajib Chakraborty told“It was really a tough challenge to compose lyrics for this film especially as it is a murder mystery. The lyric captures the grey areas and reveals the interplay of light and shade, face and the mask.”
The play is a non-political murder mystery which revolves round a famous theatre group in Kolkata. One night the entire group gets ravaged by a series of murders. The only survivor sets out to seek the truth but the answers he was expecting are not the answers he is ready to face. The film which has been shot entirely in Kolkata is slated to release in 29th November.
