Rajani Mukerji of Rotary Club of Calcutta highlighted some aspects of the Rotary Club. “The Rotary Club was formed in the year 1905. Four people from four different professions got together and formed the club. The club was initially formed by the people to meet with one another and interact about their profession. The four individuals did not want this to be an association of doctors or merchants. They wanted it to be a body where people from different professions will be a part of the initiative. Hence you will never find more than five people from the same profession in any rotary club. The best people in the profession are selected and they serve as the representative of the others in the profession. The main aim of the Rotary Club is to respect all vocations” said Rajani Mukerji.
