Kolkata, November 5 (Washington Bangla Radio): Music albums with a twist are the flavor of the season in the city of Kolkata. A new album on Bandish fusion Classiyana was released and an album on Sachin Tendulkar’s retirement “We miss you Sachin” were recorded in the city. The two albums are of genuine class in their own respective way.

Eminent Singer Piloo Bhattacharjee’s ‘We Miss You Sachin’ is an album which revolves around the retirement of the master blaster from the world of cricket. The contribution of the Cricket God to the game is what inspired Piloo Bhattacharjee to make this album. The singer said “I planned this album with only four songs. But with the passing of time, the number of songs increased to eight and finally this album has twelve songs. Six of the songs are in Hindi while the other six are in Bengali. The lyrics of the Bengali songs have been written down by Utpal Das while the Hindi songs have been written by Rakesh Tripathy and Swapan Majumdar. I checked in YouTube and found that there are songs for Sachin but never has anyone made as many as twelve songs for the icon. This is a first of its kind”. The singer plans to distribute this music album in front of eighty thousand people at the Eden Gardens. Apart from Piloo Bhattacharjee, the other singers who have sang in this album includes Sujoy Bhowmick, Sayantani Majumdar, Kallol Ghoshal, Gargi Ghosh, Amit Ganguly and Writorshi Bhattacharjee. On being questioned why the singer did not think of a similar music album during the retirement of Sourav, Piloo Bhattacharjee said “It is not that I did not think about it. But I was out of the country at that point of time. Sourav will however feature in this album as the anchor”. The date of release of this special album is the fourth of November.

We at Picasso entertainment believe in bringing out music albums which will have a lasting effect on the minds of the listeners. Maybe we will not be bringing out much music albums. But the ones that we will release will have a good shelf life. New artists can contact us and we will help them in bringing their music albums in the market”. Chiranjeet who had earlier worked with Soumyo Bose wished the singer all the best for this album. He even praised the singer as he could multi task easily.

Despite the closing down of Music World and the troubles with piracy, the music industry in Bengal is still trying to make headway in a positive manner.
