Kolkata, November 1 (Washington Bangla Radio): “I never thought that I will win the Mrs. International India 2011-2012 title. One of my friends Shivalika Sharma urged me to give my name in the contest. I did not think anything much will be coming out of the process. However I gave a telephonic interview and then I was flying to Mumbai for the pageant” said model-turned-actress Richa Sharma. The actress was recently present at the inaugural ceremony of two events- KFF Pehchan (a lifestyle exhibition) and Signature (a painting exhibition).

KFF Pehchan in its tenth edition is renowned for showcasing the local, international and national trends in the fashion and lifestyle industry. Exhibitors from different states and countries participated in the event. Chanderi sarees from Madhya Pradesh, Jaipur suit fabrics from Jaipur, Dokra art from Maharashtra are some of the exhibits of the fair. This multi-product exhibition aims to give a boost to an ideal interactive platform for businessmen and entrepreneurs. “The collection in this fair is great. I plan to come back and purchase a few artifacts for my home. I will be bringing my friends with me so that they also can do some shopping” said Richa. Richa bought an elaborately designed nameplate “Sharma” written on it for her home. The actress who missed out the dandiyas this year plans to have fun during Diwali. She was in London for the Nari Shakti Awards where she herself received an award from Lakshmi Mittal. “I missed out dancing with my reel life husband Govinda Ji during the dandia event held during the Durga Puja” said the model-turned-actress. She has bagged a role opposite Govinda where she is playing the role of his wife. The actress who is quite choosy over the roles that she selects has not yet received any meaty role in a Bengali film. This is the reason why she is not yet seen in any Bengali films.

Richa was also present at the inauguration ceremony of the painting exhibition titled Signature by Rumki Mahapatra at the Acacdemy of Fine Arts. Apart from Richa, Chaiti Ghoshal and Shuvaprasanna were present at the inaugural ceremony. Most of the paintings done by Rumki Mahapatra are acrylic on canvas. Some however are into water color and pastel. All the proceeds from this exhibition will be going to the organization called Touch World. This is an organization which works with the jail inmates in West Bengal. The money will enable six children of the prisoners to continue their education in Don Bosco, Murshidabad. Touch World is run by Alokananda Roy, an eminent danseuse and a reformer. Signature is the solo exhibition of Rumki Mahapatra. Her main focus is on Nature. “Painting is the best kind of creative expression and Nature is the best subject that I could possibly get to unleash my creativity on the canvas” said the artist Rumki Mahapatra. For the last three years, she has been honing her skills under the watchful eyes of noted painter Sri. Rajib Sur Roy.
