Washington, DC, November 16, 2012 (Washington Bangla Radio) The Washington Chapter of the Indian National Overseas Congress (I), USA-INOCDC, has welcomed the appointment of Rahul Gandhi as head of the Election Coordination Committee of the Indian National Congress for the forthcoming elections in 2014.

“We are proud and extremely confident in the ability of Rahul Gandhi to lead the Congress Party to victory in the upcoming polls in 2014. And believe that his leadership and dedication will be good for the party at large and dispel all negative propaganda being spread by the BJP,” said INOCDC President Lavika Bhagat Singh.

The announcement 18 months prior is a positive step forward and is recognition to have the party machinery ready.

The inclusion of Ahmed Patel, Janardan Dwivedi, Digvijay Singh, Madhusudan Mistry and Jairam Ramesh is a strategic and praiseworthy move.

Three sub-groups have been announced: pre-poll alliances, manifesto and government programs, and communications and publicity. The first two are to be led by defence minister AK Antony, and Digvijay Singh is to head the third. This is a well thought out and planned out strategy of the party.

INOCDC congratulates M Veerappa Moily, Mukul Wasnik, Suresh Pachauri, Jitendra Singh and Mohan Prakash for their appointment in the sub-group on pre-poll alliances.

We also extend felicitations to P Chidambaram, Sushil Kumar Shinde, Anand Sharma, Salman Khurshid, Sandeep Dikshit, Ajit Jogi, Renuka Chowdhary, P.L. Punia as members and Mohan Gopal as a special invitee on the panel on manifesto and government programs.

The sub-group on communications and publicity has Ambika Soni, Manish Tewari, Deepender Hooda, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Rajeev Shukla and Bhakta Charan Das as members and will have a positive impact on the victory of the Congress Party.

INOCDC would like to reiterate its welcome to Rahul Gandhi as head of the Election Coordination Committee.
