Calcutta, India, Nov 13, 2012 (Washington Bangla Radio) As Shah Rukh Khan arrived in Kolkata for the inauguration ceremony of Kolkata Film Festival, he also appeared at a promotional press meet for his upcoming film ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ at the same go in the city. King Khan along with Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma brightened up the press conference as they chatted, shared jokes and answered various queries of media persons.
Shah Rukh Khan did the most of the talking in his usual unique style while Anushka chipped in at times with sweet comments. Katrina Kaif was mainly the delight for the photographers as she chose her signature smile to woo the press than using her voice (though she did answer when questions flied at her).
Shah Rukh Khan has come to promote the last film of Yash Chopra as the legendary director is no more with us. He shared with the media some of the memories with Yash Chopra. “I have lots of memories with Yash Chopra as I have been working with him for the past twenty years. I had the opportunity to spend a lot of time with him over these years. I have eaten, dined, chatted with him. He told me about nature, love and women. We had some really wonderful discussions. One day we were sitting on a chair and waiting for the shot to be done while the ladies were upstairs, not Anushka and Katrina, it was a different film; we had a beautiful chat about how beautiful women are but with respect and goodness. We also discussed how nice it is to make films with central stories about love and women."
Shah Rukh also added a stunning confession when the ‘Baadsha’ of Romance said, “I am a anti-love story kind of person. I am too smart to be watching love stories and all. It’s very ironic that I have been working with him for so long and working on love stories which worked best for me. But I have got this sensibility of what being in love feels like and how people in relationships interact with each other with difficulties and friction, but love conquers all.”
When Anushka Sahrma was asked to speak about her most memorable moment with Yash Chopra, she said, “I cannot really single out a moment from the film but what I do remember vividly is that every morning when I would pull into the set I would see Yash ji standing next to camera for the first morning shot to be taken and he will be seen excited like a little child to take the first shot. To see that enthusiasm in him after having a career of fifty years and having accomplished so much in life is genuinely the most memorable moments of my life."
Katrina also shared a memorable moment with Yash Chopra. ‘We were shooting in Ladakh. We were shooting on a bridge with Yash ji and Shahrukh was in his army outfit. Suddenly a storm came. We were in the most beautiful place of the world when this storm came. The realization that I am finally in a Yash Chopra movie in that beautiful moment is what I remember” she said.
Being in the city just before Diwali and having his film releasing on Diwali, Shahrukh was almost expecting a question about his Diwali plans. When the obvious question flew in his direction, he said, "I have left all Diwali plans to Anushka and Katrina. I assume we are stuck with this film on 13th November."
Recently a controversy was sparked off relating to clash of ‘Jab Tak hai jaan’ with Ajay Devgan starrer ‘Son of Sardar”, another Diwali release. Speaking about his take on that he said, “We always make things as a family of filmmakers. We all are working together. Sometimes statements of x,y,z or any person including us gets misrepresented. We are wishing ‘Son of Sardar’ all the best. We are wishing our film all the best obviously. We are attached to it personally. Our film to us has gone beyond any competition not because we think that ours is the best film in the world but we thinks it’s the most special film the three of us have been part of. We worked with Yash ji. Its very close to our heart. We will never ever get a story telling opportunity like this."
SRK will be seen romancing two ladies in this film. When a cheeky question was asked about what he will suggest to his son if he ever finds him romancing two ladies at the same time, Shahrukh replied, “It will be good for him. I never could do that apart from screen. I will rather ask him about how he has done that.”
The trio also participated in Kolkata Film Festival inauguration ceremony after the press conference. But before they did so Shahrkh hinted at his willingness to be associated with the Bengali film Industry. He said “Some of the greatest cinema comes out from Bengal. It will be honour to appear in a Bengali film as Bengal has some of the greatest talent, actually the greatest talent in terms of language and literature.. Though I lack efficiency in speaking Bengali there may be some film and character that I would be able to perform passably. Back in Mumbai we have many writers, directors and music directors from here.”
He also said he may even think of producing Bengali movies as Bengali movies can be made at much lower budget comparatively.
