Eminent faces from the Bengali film industry started pouring in at the lawn of the hotel and greetings started to flow in every direction. "Shubho Bijoya" has been the word of greetings among the Bengalis (and also among many from other communities) since Dashami or the last day of Durga Puja and this evening was also no exception. The celebs hugged, wished and chatted as they bumped into each other.

The first celebrity to be spotted was ace choreographer Sudarshan Chakrabarty, who has stunned many with various creative wonders along with his dance troop ‘Sapphire Creations’. He reached the venue just at the scheduled time and laid his hair down (though very little hair is on his head to do so) with a glass of wine. Chatting with Washington Bangla Radio, he revealed that he is busy with a lot of projects presently. He also said that over the next few days he will be busy choreographing for different Bengali films. Choreographing Tollywood beauty Swastika for a song number for Bengali movie "Take One", the upcoming film by Mainak Bhowmik, is his immediate assignment. He will also be heading to North Bengal to join the team of ‘Chayamanush’ the next film of Arindam Dey which has Raima Sen and Parambrata in the main cast.

Srijit Mukherjee, presently the hottest director of Tollywood arrived in a cool white T-shirt paired up with jeans. Soon he was seen greeting Koneenica, the bubbly girl who balances well her small screen and big screen schedule. Srijit told WBRi that pre-production work of his upcoming film ‘Kakababu’, the shooting of which is going to start on 7th January next year, is keeping him up on his heels.

Kolkata based fashion designer Agnimitra Paul entered the venue looking mesmerizing in a white Saree with blue shades. Agnimitra, known for picking up elegant accessories, was carrying a blue and white pouch bag, aptly matched and too cute to be missed. Agnimitra kept on chatting with the celebs and media alike with her broad smile never leaving her face.

Actors Indraneil Sengupta and Saheb Chatterjee were also seen going around wishing everyone "Shubho Bijoya". While Indraneil was looking a bit incomplete without wife Barkha, director and occasional actor Kaushik Ganguly was seen with his actress wife Churni.

Rituparna Sengupta, one of the busiest stars of Tollywood, also lit up the event as she entered a bit late (but it is never late for a star of her status). She had tagged along her son Ankan. Ankan for quite a while became the center of attraction of the celebs and media which gave a good indication of how much stardom is in store for him in the near future.

Paoli Dam, another hottie from T-town, walked in with her ‘special friend’ Bickram Chatterjee. While Paoli was flaunting an orange saree, Bickram looked relaxed in a black casual shirt and jeans.

Upcoming young guns Ridhima Ghosh and Gaurav Chakraborty stuck with each other all the time. Being paired in three consecutive films, i.e. ‘Rang Milanti’, ‘Laptop’ and ‘Ashbo Arek Din’, they have clearly grown a special bonding between them.

Model turned actress Parijat came to the venue hand in hand with her fiancé. Looking chick in electric blue one piece dress, she informed WBRi that she is going to get engaged to her fiancé on 6th December which is also her birthday.

Among all this happy cacophony, Saheb Bhattacharya (presently more famous as the new Topshe of Feluda series) preferred to keep standing in a corner with a friend. When WBRi caught up with him, he let us know that he is eagerly waiting for the music release of his upcoming film ‘Damadol’. He also said that he looking forward to the release of ‘Bhul Bhal: Total Confusion’, another of his upcoming Indian Bengali movies.

Actress Kanchana Moitra was also spotted among the happy crowd. Upcoming actor Sujoy whose lead role in Bengali film ‘Best friend’ was well received as well as playing the second lead in the blockbuster ‘100% Love’ along with Tollywood superstars Jeet and Koyel. Sujjoy told WBRi that he is going to leave for Hyderabd the very next day for the shooting of the upcoming Bangla movie ‘Rocky’. Sujjoy is playing a negative role in the high budget movie which is going to star Mimoh Chakrabarty and Puja Bose in the lead.

IBFA (International Bangla Film Academy) also took the opportunity of the occasion to break the big news of taking an entourage of over 600 people to Egypt, where the IBFA award ceremony will take place next year, in order to promote brand Bengal on International Shares.

IBFA is also organizing a buyer and seller meet in Cairo wherein producers of Bengal will interact with foreign buyers hosted by IBFA and get an opportunity to sell and market Bengali films.

They also plan to take at least 20 films from Bengal of eminent directors who have made the city, state and country proud.

As the sole intention of the event is to promote ‘Brand Bengal’, the organizers have decided that any such films which depicts the state in bad taste in the name of freedom of expression will not be screened on the list of the 20 films.

Bengal is never complete without Bangladesh and IBFA has decided to have representation from Bangladesh as well.

Veteran filmmakers and artists of yesteryear will also be honored on the occasion. Rituparna Sengupta is going to be the face of the event. She will also be co-ordinating the entertainment segment of one part of the event. Fashion Designer Agnimitra Paul will also be portraying her creativity on the occasion.

It has also been hinted at that a huge surprise will soon be produced by ‘Jet Setters’ - i.e. the organizers of IBFA award.
