The First ever South Asian Carriers’ Meet begins in Dhaka Nov 16-17 (ICT Journalist Press Meet held)

Dhaka, Nov 5, 2012 (Washington Bangla Radio) A two-day South Asian Carriers’ Meet (SACM) 2012, a unique platform to meet wholesale telecom carriers, interconnect exchange operators, sub-sea and terrestrial cable operators and date service providers, will begin on November 16, 2012 in the city of Dhaka, Bangladesh, according to a press release.

Post and Telecommunications Minister Advocate Shahara Khatun will inaugurate the two-day event at Radisson Blu Water Garden Hotel here. Secretary of the Ministry, Honorable Chairman of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) will attend the meet as special guests. This was informed at a press conference at the Board Room of BASIS today (05-11-12).

He said Windmill Advertising Ltd, the country’s leading advertisement and event management firm, is organizing the ‘South Asia Carriers’ Meet, first of its kind in South Asian region. Cell Telecom, DBL Telecom, Bangladesh International Gateway Ltd, Golden Telecom and Bangla Tel Ltd are the sponsors of the meet.

The main purpose of the meet is to bring together the carriers dealing with termination of international calls and International Gateway (IGW) Services Providers License holders.

The meet will show up the strong presence of data, network and service providers and interconnect exchange operators of Bangladesh ad South Asia.

Bangladesh being the 4th largest emerging telecoms market with rising demand for voice, data related products and services; is taking the advantage to facilitate further development of this industry through sharing knowledge in this program.The meet will have a global impact in the industry as the government high officials and top executives of different telecom service providers will also join the South Asian Carriers’ Meet, which is expecting a big gathering of 100 delegates from UK, USA, France, Italy, Australia, India, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, UAE, Pakistan and Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Maldives and Nepal.
