Protest grows over killing of eve-teaser challengers

Mumbai, Nov 3 (IBNS): People protested in social networking site Facebook against death of two youths at the hands of goons for protesting against eve-teasing in Mumbai on Oct 20.

A special page has been created in Facebook named 'Justice For Keenan and Reuben'  where people from all over the nation are protesting against the tragic incident and hailing the two men who fought against the eve teasers.

"I hope the courts act swiftly to convict the murderers of Keenan & Reuben. Their families deserve that, at the least," actor Farhan Akhtar tweeted.

Jitendra Rana, the chief accused in this incident and three others, were caught by police on charges of murder.

The shocking incident took place in Mumbai's Andheri area when two youths,  Reuben Fernandez (28) and Keenan Santos (25) were stabbed by a group of four people as they protested when the  attackers were passing lewd comments to women who were in the group.

On that night, Reuben, Keenan and five others who included three girls had visited a bar for dinner and watch cricket match on the giant screent that was arranged at the venue. As they stepped out of the venue and stood in front of a pan shop the horrific incident took place.

When the attackers started to pass lewd comments targeting the girls in the group, the violence followed.

Keenan died the at the spot on that shocking night while Reuben passed away on Monday.

Incidentally, no one came to save the attacked youths on that night.

Meanwhile one friend of Reuben and Keenan named Priyanka who was present at the venue said that they had called the police control room number 100 when the incident was taking place but the call was 'kept on hold for nearly 10 to 15 mins'.

"I am not going to leave this fight,I am going to fight whether I get justice or not," Valerian Santos, Keenan's father, said.
