Ghaziabad, November 17, 2010 (Washington Bangla Radio / pressreleasepoint) The Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad, presents PRATIGYA, a social initiative intended to bring forth a myriad of socially relevant issues.

Ghaziabad: In a fast changing country riding on the waves of economic boom and a burgeoning middle class, life is full of opportunities and avenues for many. While this picture is praiseworthy, somewhere, the social focus needs to be brought back into the picture, to make a difference to the social and ecological environment around us. And MBA students could be forerunners in attempting to achieve this end. With this objective, the Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad, presents PRATIGYA, a social initiative intended to bring forth a myriad of socially relevant issues, and to make a change in society.

PRATIGYA will, through a set of unique initiatives, attempt to awaken the public psyche and effect change. The first of these initiatives is “Swatchatha”, a cleanliness drive on the streets of Delhi and Ghaziabad, at places such as India Gate, through activities which include cleaning the streets, distributing dustbins to hawkers, distribution of pamphlets and recognition of the contributions of the cleaning staff.

Women’s empowerment being a critical issue in society today, will receive special attention through the second initiative. The students of IMT Ghaziabad, through “Swashakti” will help women living below poverty line (BPL) set up Self Help Groups as well as achieve financial literacy. The SHGs will also be helped to market products to set up successful businesses. Similarly, child development is of prime concern to a country like India and in the hope of achieving this, IMT Ghaziabad along with some Government schools in Delhi and Ghaziabad will take up this initiative, called “Neev”. The students will visit schools and conduct competitions which have educative value. There will also be special focus on child beggars and labourers, who will be provided education and professional sports training.

“Suraksha” is an initiative to educate people about traffic rules and traffic safety. Through banners and pamphlets, at busy traffic junctions, the students will to achieve this. As far as places of recreation go, malls are the hotspots of activity and there is no finer place to create awareness about haunting issues such as social corruption, global warming, energy and water conservation etc. Through “Jagruti”, the students of IMT Ghaziabad will be holding quizzes, games and street plays to achieve this end.

PRATIGYA will be a one day event taking place on the 13th of November, 2010 in National Capital Region.
