Subhomoy writes:

Kaushik Ganguly is involved with the acting world from his childhood. He was the indispensable actor at the time of studying at Narendrapur Ramkrishna Mission School. After graduating from there, he took admission at Jadavpur University. That time he started a theatre group there with like minded batch mates like his wife, famous actress Churni Ganguly, famous director Suman Mukhopadhyay (WBRi exclusive interview), etc.

That time he started to watch theatres regularly and involved with Chetna, the theatre group headed by veteran actor Arun Mukhopadhyay, father of Suman Mukhopadhyay.

That time he was seriously thinking about direction than acting. He considers himself as a non good looking person. When he was thinking about acting career there was demand of very good looking actors. So he thought to lend his acting skills in directing others. Not only that, directoral techniques of Arun Mukhopadhyay has grown interest of direction within him.

According to him, director is the principal of any production, he is the ultimate mentor, the final decision maker. So he is the most powerful person of the production. All those factors have led him to be a director.
At the time of doing theatre and directing the same, he has started his career as script writer with Bengali Film World. When he has become popular as script writer, he has explored his career as director in the television media.

Then the television channel ETV has launched their Bengali venture with strong vision to promote good films projecting television viewers only, popularly known as Telefilm. That was the time when people experienced release of very few feature meaningful films. Also the good young talented film makers were in search of good producers. ETV Bangla has opened a new avenue for those directors and Kaushik Ganguly utilized this opportunity entirely. His telefilms aired on ETV Bangla has introduced him as a powerful director of meaningful films.

Afterward he shows his talent as a director of feature films starting with Warish and followed by Sunyo e Bukey, Jackpot, Brakefail etc. Right now his newest venture, Aarekti Premer Galpo (debut film of Rituporno Ghosh as an actor) is counting days for its Indian release in December, 2010. This film on same sex relationship has already become popular at some parts of USA and Europe and got reputed awards too.

He has just started shooting of his current venture Rang Milanti portraying different corners of all sorts of relationships.

We wish him all the best for both the films.
