Srijit Mukherji's New Game-Changing Bengali Film Rajkahini (2015) Premieres to a Tollywood Storm

Kolkata, October 20, 2015 (Washington Bangla Radio): In the end, the audience struggled to regain control and function normally, and Srijit Mukherji did his best to hold back his tears. Rajkahini, like the Matrix, is a game changer - there will be two kinds of Bengali movies, those before it, and those after it.

The most anticipated Bangla movie of the year, Rajkahini (2015), opened with a grand red-carpet premiere at a south Kolkata multiplex. Almost everyone working with Kolkata's Tollywood Bengali movie industry was present, not wanting to pass on the opportunity to watch a Srijit Mukherji film.

Writer-director Srijit Mukherji greeted guests pouring in at the venue. He seemed to be nurturing mixed feelings of excitement and nervousness. Amazingly, he still found the time to pose happily for media shutterbugs whenever approached.

Rajkahini opened to coincide with Durga Puja, perhaps explaining the ‘saree fest’ among the pretty ladies. Leading actress Rituparna Sengupta was spotted in a black traditional Saree accompanied with heavy jewellery. Parno Mitra too was draped in a black saree.

While black was the choice for Rituparna and Parno Mitra , Sayani Ghosh looked pretty in a printed one and Sohini dazzled in a golden saree. Sudipta Chakrabrty and Priyanka Sarkar too joined in the saree fest.

Apart from the draped divas, other beauties from the cast including Joya Ahsan, Ridhima Ghosh and Ena Saha added to the glamour with their graceful presence.

Actors Jishu, Abir and Nigel made their presence felt too. Kanchan Mallick, who plays the role of a tough cop in the movie, made the premiere even starrier with his presence as he brought in a galaxy of stars on his T-Shirt. Saswata Chatterjee was spotted with his better half Mohua. Parambrata Chatterjee, who has worked with Srijit twice, dropped in to wish the team well.  Aparna Sen, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Dev and industry stalwarts were also present in a show of support.
