Under previledged kids to pandal hop with celebs through 'Sholoana bangaliana Durga Pujo Porikroma'

Kolkata, October 18, 2015 (Washington Bangla Radio): Notable persons from different fields recently came together to announce about a Puja Parikrama titled ‘Sholoana Bangaliana Pujo parikrama’ which will have as many as eighty under privileged children and needy elderly persons visiting the different Puja pandals of Kolkata along with the celebs.

The eminent persons present to support the noble cause included former Mrs World Richa Sharma, producer Satrajit Sen, designer  Indroneel Mukherjee, director Sanjay Nag, designer  Lopamudra  Mandal Saha  , Radio jockey Roopsha, Director Anindya Biswas, designer Neelanjana Chakrabarty, Astorloger Natasha and choreographers Rajkumar and Sudarshan Chakrabrty. Also present was Turjya Mitra, the man behind the concept along with his better half Banasree Mitra.

Turjya Mitra who has brainchild this project said about the project, “This will be a two day tour around the city where the children. The children will be picked from their place around 8 A.M in the morning on the day of Sosti and our contingent will be moving towards the North Kolkata and will visit selected Pandals in Kolkata. In between we will stop for lunch and tiffin breaks. We shall repeat the same schedule on Saptami but this time we shall visit the selected Pandals of South Kolkata.

Anindya Biswas said, “We spent a lot of time over stupid things, more so during Puja. So when Turjya approached me with this initiative I thought why don’t we spend this Puja doing something noble. This initiative is really a good way to spend the Puja. We are happy to be a part of the reason which will bring happiness to some under-privileged children.”

Satrajit Sen said on the occasion, “I am very glad to be part of this initiative. I have tried to rope in some resources I had to make this project more successful. I am happy to bring in National Geographic Channel as our partner. Though Turjyo has approached me at the last minute, I tried my best to help him. Hope next time we can make this a bigger project. “

                              Neelanjana Sengupta said “These kind of projects should always be supported my everyone including media.  More over this project nbeeds to be proted by everyone through social media which is a very strong way of connecting the masses in this modern age. This concept will be imitated by others for sure and there is absolutely no harm in that. More the noble things are imitated, better the society will become.

When asked by WBRi that if the involvement of so many persons related to fashion industry hints that the children be seen visiting the pandals wearing designer attire, he said, “That is obviously one of the long cherished dream I have but unfortunately we may not have the resources this year to fullfill that. If we get more helping hands and resources in the coming days we will surely provide the children with designer clothes.
