UTSAV is This Weekend

UTSAV festival at the Kennedy Center

Washington, DC, Oct 3, 2015 (Washington Bangla Radio): The third annual UTSAV festival at the Kennedy Center is quickly approaching and we can't wait to share all of the goodness with you, in person, THIS WEEKEND!

The maestros of music and dance that will be performing at the festival are at the top of their craft. Master of the Sarod himself, Ustad Amjad Ali, and his sons, Amaan Ali Khan and Ayaan Ali Khan, will kick off an exciting weekend of events featuring Carnatic musical stylings in vocals and a symphony orchestra, as well as Odissi dance and a 21st-century stage adaptation of Miguel Cervantes's 17th-century novel Don Quixote, in Bharatanatyam dance.

In addition, two insightful educational seminars on the future of art and dance will take place at the nearby Key Bridget Marriot Hotel (1401 Lee Highway, Arlington, VA 22209). Saturday’s seminar from 10 a.m. – noon about classical Indian dance will be moderated by Mythili Prakash, a Bharatanatyam maestro in her own right! Sunday’s seminar from 10 a.m. – noon will cover the future of art music and will be moderated by journalist and theater critic, Dr. Gowri Ramnarayan.

If you haven't gotten your tickets for UTSAV 2015, a celebration to promote the beauty, depth, and diversity of Indian traditional culture, you better hurry! The prime seats are going fast and it would be a shame for you to miss out.
