The way she performed in some important scenes was mind blowing.”

My film Kahaani was shot here and from that film audience started noticing my existence in film industry. Even when I am with my close buddies I tell them that I should be in Kolkata. I would love to be a Bengali in my next life. Bengalis will always be inclined to the artistic crest more than any other community. I have a soft corner for the Bengalis and my wavelength matches with them.”

When asked about the alleged rumors about him avoiding the promotional campaign of the critically appreciated film Lunchbox due to some tiff with Irrfan Khan, he said “I know Irfan Bhai for a long time and we still are good friends. I don’t know why people are spreading these rumors.”

WBRi got some exclusive moments with Nawazuddin and asked him about his journey of struggle which started as a chemist in Delhi and then to Bombay in the nineties. He said “Look I was not in a position to take a deliberate decision. Co-incidentally the way I have been presented on screen by the directors all are very good. For last four five years a lot of talented directors approached me and I thank god that I got them..”

WBRi also asked about his character in the film ‘Dekh Indian Circus’ which is getting brilliant responses at many international film festivals. He said, “In this film I am playing the character of a deaf and a mute person who wants his village children to watch circus but he couldn’t due to some financial crunch. In remote villages watching circus is considered to be a kind of luxury while it is not the same in urban areas. In those villages for villagers has to walk more than ten kilometers to collect water but in that same village soft drinks of International Brands are available. So in one way this is a satirical film on the society. It won the best film award at Busan Film festival.”
