Kolkata, Oct 24, 2012 (Washington Bangla Radio) After a not so glorious career at Bollywood, Mahakshsay Chakrabarty or more popularly known as Mimoh is ready to make his debut in Bengali film industry with his upcoming Kolkata Bengali movie ‘Rocky’.
Being son of superstar Mithun Chakraborty, Mimoh will have to bear the load of great expectations from the audience. He is being paired opposite Puja Bose, the pretty lass who wooed the audience in the Indian Bengali movies ‘Macho Mastana’ and ‘Challenge 2’. Mimoh plays the title role of Rocky who is a Mumbai based ruffian who is being chased by the police. He incidentally lands up in Kashmir and meets Pooja Bose. Then he comes to know that Puja is in love with Avik, the rowdy son of a minister. In the course of action a murder happens and with the turn of things the suspense starts.
The film is being directed by Sujit Mondal who has previously delivered box-office successes like ‘Romeo’, ‘Saat Paake Bandha’, ‘Sedin Dekha Hoechilo and ‘Bolo Na Tumi Amar’. After failing to meet the expectations with his latest venture ‘Paglu 2’, he will sure be hoping to make a comeback to the domain of success with this film.
According to the sources the film is a Bengali remake of the Telegu hit ‘Oosaravelli’ which starred N. T. Rama Rao Jr. and Tamannah Bhatia in the lead roles while actors like Shaam, Prakash Raj, Payal Ghosh, Murali Sharma, Jaya Prakash Reddy and Rahman were seen in supporting roles.
If the storyline of ‘Rocky’ is kept at par with ‘Oosaravelli’, then there would be a lot of action, drama and twists in the film. The story line of ‘Oosaravelli’ goes like this:
Tony, played by N. T. Rama Rao Jr, does anything for money. When Tony went to Kashmir he met a young girl named Niharika played by Tamannah while being kidnapped by terrorists. He falls in love with her and then rescues her. But Tony found out that Niharika was already engaged to Rakesh. Rakesh, is the son of a minister and is also a tough goon and is engaged in various anti-social acts.
Niharika is unaware of the dark side of Rakesh. When Niharika found out that he was a goon, she dumped him. And she also realizes that Tony loves her.
Later on Tony kills Rakesh.
When Tony, Niharika, and another girl Chitra go to a temple, Chitra sees Tony killing someone. And then there is a flashback about how he and Niharika met before but she lost her memory. That happened because Niharika's brother was an undercover cop and when goons found out they killed the whole family. The only one who survived was Niharika but she had a bullet in her head.
The doctors said that she would lose her memory soon. So, she tells Tony to kill the people who killed her family because she had seen Tony beating up a bunch of people. In the end Tony kills all the goons who killed Niharika's family.
Mimoh will be seen in a dynamic role and comparisons will surely be drawn with his father who has a great fan following all over India. Mithun Chakraborty is also doing a cameo in this film and thus the father and son duo will be seen together for the second time after Garav Pandey directed film ‘Sphagetti 24 × 7’.
The music is being composed by Jeet Ganguly and the dialogues are being penned by N.K.Salil, the top scriptwriter of Bengali commercial films.
