Challenge 2 - Dev and Pooja Bose

Kolkata, Oct 11, 2012 (Washington Bangla Radio) After a spell of movies which were averagely or below averagely received by the critics and audience, Tollywood heartthrob Dev has kitted himself with the best of gears to turn things around. The trailers of his upcoming film ‘Challenge 2’ promises to be the best treat to his fans till date. With a layers of well toned muscles on his already god gifted tall athletic physique, Dev is set to reach another milestone. ACP Abhiraj Roy, the onscreen avatar of Dev in this film with all the actions, dialogues and romance is all set to keep the box-office ringing.

‘Challenge 2’ is not a true sequel of the 2009 blockbuster ‘Challenge’ which took Dev in the realm of superstardom. ‘Challenge 2’ rather has an original story line which is being said to be inspired from the Sreenu Vaitla directed Telegu action comedy ‘Dookudu’. ‘Dookudu’ had leading southern star Mahesh Babu and Samantha as its lead pair.

‘Challenge 2’ has been directed by Raja Chanda and Apart from Dev, the film also has an impressive lineup of  star cast which includes Pooja Bose, Rajatava Dutta, Tapas Pal, Asish Vidyarthi, Kharaj Mukherjee, Laboni Sarkar, Tulika Basu,Sumit Gangopadhay, Biswanath Basu and Joyjit Banerjee. Raj Chakraborty, the director of the first installment of the ‘Challenge’ franchisee, will be seen doing a cameo in this film.

The storyline of the film goes like this:

Abhiraj Roy who is more popularly known as Abhi is an ACP in Mumbai police and is one of the most feared cop in the police force. Abhi is on a highly dangerous assignment of cracking down one of the most notorious mafia dons at large. The mafia don played by Asish Vidyarthi is involved in illegal activities like drug trade, arms supply and extortion. In the film Tapas Pal plays the role of Dev’s father who is a politician with high idealistic and moral values and has a hearty caring for social causes. He meet an accident and goes into a state of coma. The truth is hidden from Dev’s family and they are told that Dev’s father is dead. Masintaining a very low profile, Dev resorts to an undercover operation and captures the younger kin of the mafia don. In a seires of events it is revealed that a leader of opposite political party masterminded the accident of Abhi’s father.

Abhi, meanwhile falls in love with a pretty fashion designer played by Pooja Bose. She is also the daughter of a top cop from whom Abhi takes order from and who also share intelligence with Commisioner of police in Kolkata.

Abhi’s dad when comes out of coma had the danger of being at a risk of serious consequences if he gets a mental shock. So Abhi conceal everything related to the accident and set up artificial backdrop where he guises as a politician venerated by people, just as dreamed by Abhi’s father. He pretends to be an M.L.A. and hides his own profession.

On the way to the climax the plot treads through a number of revelations like politician-criminal nexus behind the accident of Abhi's father and Abhi's retaliation over the political corruptions of the villains.

The film has some dialogues written by N.K. Salil who is known for some of the most popular lines. He has churned out some for this film too which is expected to be received with thundering applause. Dialogues like “Crime holo aamar kachhe dustbin aar criminal jonjaal, aar eder ke saaf kora tai holo aamar challenge “ and “Police jodi beporwah na hoye tahole policewala aar feriwalar modhye kono taufat thakbe” will surely be loved by Dev’s fan. And if that is not enough then speeches like “Jokhon paa feli matite sekhanei dhore agun, jokhon takiye dekhi tokhon meyeder mone lage fagun , jokhon kelan di tokhon mafia hoy pocha begun, ar jokhon triger tip-i tokhon purotai hoy chapa awaz….amar voye sala nekre rao kore kuchkawa…. ami toder kannar karon ,sita-r janyo jemon ravon horon... ami sei Aviraj......je bangla korbe raj…Challenge Nibi Na Sala” will make the movie worthy of betting money on.

Jeet ganguly and Savvy Gupta has scored the music which is already a hit.

The film boasts to be the highest budget Bengali film till date and whopping Rs 9 crores has been spent in the making.  But the outstanding locations and daredevilry action stunts will make the revenue box really heavy. So it is going to be a great puja for Dev and his fans as the Srikant Mohta and Mahendra Soni production will hit the theatres on 19th October on the day of Mahasashti.
