Internationally Acclaimed Bengali Folk Fusion Band KAYA Release New Album BHALOBASHA in Kolkata

Kolkata Bangla Band Kaya New Album Bhalobasha

Kolkata, 28 September 2010 (Washington Bangla Radio / Penning Creations) A cascade of melody with an admixture of humor and music set the Oxford Bookstore floor with a vibrant mood showcasing the launch of new Bengali CD ‘Bhalobasha’ by the renowned Bangla band ‘KAYA’. The soulful octagon of ‘Kaya’ with Arindam (bass guitar), Bubai and Suvasis (percussion), Raju and King (guitar), Gourab (keyboard) and Argha and Kaushik in lead vocals specifically defined the live performance as an ‘unplugged session’.

The album is a perfect blend of versatility and uniqueness with the melody of Ektara, Madol and other folk instruments. As Jojo (the guest for the evening) stated, “it was a different presentation by Kaya, not like the prior releases and a good food for the romantics and music lovers”. After eight big hit albums, the band members are now looking forward to compose music for upcoming movies like Ashis Sarkar’s forthcoming Bengali film ‘Lattu’.

As a tribute to all the true love souls around, Kaya hummed their first romantic number ‘Saiyaan’, which earned handsome claps for touching the right cord. ‘Roddur’, ‘Raat’. ’Anamika’ and a brilliant classical and Sufi presentation by Argha ‘Dildariar Majhe’ also deserves a special mention. Kaya has each song dedicated to a member of the band, which is quite unique indeed.

The show was a mix of fun and frolic with classical and biggie beats of the instruments using multi-lingual notes and truly added a new vista to the musical genre.

To take the music release to a greater dimension, Oxford Bookstore had initiated a quiz competition on the band’s Facebook account and Jojo also offered the three lucky winners newly released CD’S of Kaya by Hindusthan Records (INRECO) whose first venture of Indian music was in the early 1930’s and it was none other than Tagore who inaugurated the studio and recorded the first song Tobu Mone Rekho and more. They are probably the first to transfer the optical film to disc and use a distinct Disc Cutting Machine from Germany.
