Hope to salvage some prestige: Swann

Kolkata, Oct 29 (IBNS): England T20 cricket captain Graeme Swann hopes to salvage some prestige when they meet India in the lone T20 match at Eden Gardens, here on Saturday.
Interacting with the mediapersons on Friday afternoon Swann said: “We are looking forward to salvage a bit of pride tomorrow. Ours is a new squad with resilience.”
Swann said, “We are current world champions. India are former champions. So it’s going to be an interesting match. It is going to be a nice chance to draw a line against the fifty over series. We will look to approach the game with freshness."
Asked about his captaincy Swann said, “I am looking forward to captain again. It's been a month or so when I was the captain of the side. It's been good fun. It's chance for us to salvage a bit of pride. It's chance for me to get my hands on the game as a leader.“
Commenting on 5-0 loss in one day series he said “ It's very nice that five-day series has finished. We can actually focus on T20 cricket. Sometime change is good. Everyone
is positive, we are looking forward to it. The spirit is quite good.It's a very resilient England squad.”
Asked about availability of Kevin Petersen for Saturday’s encounter, England captain said:
About wicket at Eden Gardens Swann said: “It's a strange looking wicket. It's very dry and very bare.”
Commenting on his own bowling Swann said: “I am disappointed with the way we bowled. I have not bowled as well as I had hoped.“
On his relationship with flamboyant English batsman Kevin Pietersen, Swann said, “My relationship with KP ( Kevin Pietersen ) has unchanged. It's fine, I am afraid people churned out stories that did not exist. It was not a distraction for us. It was a distraction for us on the periphery. It has been a distraction for the press, certainly not for the players I can honestly say that.“
“When I wrote the book it was certainly not a character assassination on anyone certainly not more than myslef. So I did not feel to alter the timing of its release. It was an opinion of mine some years ago. Some people chose that for a headline,“ Swann added.
