Salman Khan Could Have Ended into Coma

October 4, 2011 (Washington Bangla Radio / Pen Men at Work) : No, he has not, but sure, he could have!

In answer to prayers from all his loved ones and fans, Salman Khan, the Bollywood hunk, is hale and hearty.

But, and there is a big but here, the ‘Bodyguard’ says he could have ended into coma had he not taken the decision to go for a surgery just in time.

As you know, the megastar, 45, is suffering from an ailment called Trigeminal Neuralgia - a nerve disorder that causes severe stabbing or electric-shock-like pain in parts of the face, for the past seven years. Over the years, it worsened, sending Salman to the surgical bed.

Last month, the ‘Dabangg’ star successfully underwent two surgeries at a U.S. hospital and has partially recovered.

Regarding his recovery, ‘Sallubhai’ –as his fans and friends fondly call him, says:

“I’ve recovered about 60 per cent. There’s no surefire method to cure this. But in hindsight, if I had delayed the surgery, let’s say for another year, who knows? I would have landed in coma, the way Jagjit Singh is right now.”

Salman is ready to get back on track and take hold of his busy life of hectic shooting schedules.

Once back, he will resume shooting of ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ in Dublin, from which he had to take a sudden unexpected break due to his illness.

The dedicated star says, “I can’t help the travelling bit, because ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ requires me to be at several international locations.”

“I can’t leave Baba (Sanjay Dutt) alone on the show (Bigg Boss 5).” – The Bigg Boss adds half jokingly.

On a sad note, as Salman has observed, there is no surefire cure for his ailment, and he may have to undergo another surgery in future, if needed.

But for now, we thank God for his recovery and welcome him back wholeheartedly!
