CALCUTTA, October 12, 2010 (Washington Bangla Radio) Tollygunge Sodepur Agragami Puja is popular not only in South Kolkata but to all spectators as the puja is well known for its unique theme and wonderful atmosphere.

Subhomoy Mukherjee, Washington Bangla Radio reporter, talks exclusively to Subhankar Maitra, one of the chief organizers of the famous Durga Puja in Sodepur.

This year they are arising social awareness by the theme itself as they are making the puja against usage of plastic as plastic is a curse to the human civilization.

They usually obey all the regulations by the Government and using environment friendly materials and fire protected items.

Since they are using plastic as main component of decoration this year, they are spraying all the components with fire protection spray.

Not only that, they always do some work for the good self of the society. They arrange blood donation camps. At the time of puja, they try to give food to the poor people. They try to finance as many as poor students to continue their study. At the same time they give clothes and books to financially challenged class.

They are interested in cultural activities too. This puja committee always try to offer healthy puja with positive message in most artistic way to the spectators.

Awards are important to them but the most important award to  them is increasing popularity and reputation every year. We hope to see exclusives pujas from this puja committee every year.
