Nitin Chandrakant Desai unveils the scintillating 'Kalpanik Navdurga Mahal' for Navratri at Mulund

Mumbai, Maharashtra, October 6, 2010 /Washington Bangla Radio - India PRwire/ - Jai Bhavani Utsav Mandal is all set to make the upcoming Navratri festival a unique event. In keeping with the traditional Hindu custom of launching any event with an auspicious note, Jai Bhavani Utsav Mandal team along with top art director and production designer of the country Nitin Chandrakant Desai will kick start their Navratri celebration with unveiling the 'Kalpanik Navdurga Mahal' on October 4, 2010 at Mulund.

Nitin Desai, best-known for his lavish film sets that have received world-wide acclaim, has ensured that the Jai Bhavani Utsav Mandal stands out the best in the city. For the first time, the local residents will witness the tallest Durga temple, which is also recognized as one of the 'Navsachee Devi' (Goddess who fulfills ones wishes). The main feature of this 30 feet high temple is massive pillars with intricate work along with the much-acclaimed gigantic elephants, which Desai has created for the 'Lalbaug Ka Raja' in 2008.

For the past 25 years, Jai Bhavani Utsav Mandal has been effectively using the Navratri festival to create awareness about various social issues. The tradition of this mandal is that since its inception it has installed an eco friendly Durga idol (made up of mud). For years, eminent personalities have been patronizing the 'Navsachee devi' that includes Shri Chhagan Bhujbal, Shri Uddhav Saheb Thakeray, Shri Bala Saheb Thackeray, Shri Narayan Rane, renowned Art Director Late Ratnakar Phadke, art director Leeladhar Sawant, actor Sayalee Bhagat and from last 22 years Ujwalla Sushilkumar Shinde has been a true devotee of this Navdurga.

Participating in the traditional festivities was stage performer Anil Gavas and local BJP MLA Sardar Tara Singh, who has been instrumental in encouraging Desai and the mandal in their innovative cause and one-of-a-kind pandal, which is already proving to be the talk of the town.

On this occasion, Mr Anish Joshi, committee member, Jai Bhavani Utsav Mandal said, "We always want people to come together for a cause during the Navratri festival. Every year, we conceptualize a theme for our mandal. This year, the Navdurga Mahal will be great attraction for everyone visiting the temple."

Unveiling of 'Kalpanik Navdurga Mahal' ceremony kept the large crowd on the edge. The entire Navdurga Temple and the street leading towards it has been lit with bright colours. It is one experience that the residents would cherish for a long, long time.
