Bickram Ghosh at 92.7 BIG FM Calcutta Radio StationKolkata, West Bengal, March 22, 2011 (Washington Bangla Radio /India PRwire) Rabindranath Tagore's legacy defines the Bengali's cultural consciousness and lies at the core of every Bengali's heart. Rabindranath's beautiful, mellifluous songs, rich in melody and words, are an intrinsic part of our psyche. Yet, there was a need to allow this brilliant body of work to be made more accessible to a newer generation and adapt Tagore's work to this generation's comfort zone with the sound of music, which has undergone a sea change.

BIG Digital together with Veecon Music & Entertainment Private Ltd, celebrates the bards songs presented through a brand new soundscape with the release of "TAGORE LOUNGE "

In a dynamic departure from the norm, new-age maestro Bickram Ghosh has chosen some of Tagore's most admired songs and re-interpreted. The music is perched to be accepted by the youth with an injection of western orchestra tones. The sound transports us to a 60s blues atmosphere (Amaro Porano), and sometimes into regal grandeur (Anandadhaara) or a Sufi-like splendour (Ektuku Chowa). The Indian acoustic instruments (tabla, sitar, sarod) have been juxtaposed with westernized strings and chords, drums, bongos etc. This is a sound where tradition and modernity co-exist effortlessly, without any compromise to the dignity of either.
