Have We Lost Our Children To Technology?

Supply, NC, Mar 3, 2011 (Washington Bangla Radio / openPR) - Cellphones, texting, DVD's and computer games have become a way of life for most young people. For many children exposure to such technology now starts at the elementary grade levels - perhaps even earlier. Not surprisingly many people blame the current rash of school violence, bullying, child suicides, dropout rates, attention deficit disorders and the loss of traditional values squarely on this technology and all it brings with it. Unfortunately many parents and grandparents feel left out and left behind, unable to connect in a meaningful way with young people. Many parents and grandparents watch helplessly while others simply throw up their hands, unable to understand what is going on.

Natalie Portman in Black SwanHouston, TX, March 3, 2011 (Washington Bangla Radio / PRWEB) The Academy Award winning performance of Natalie Portman as Nina in “Black Swan” can only be described as haunting. The film picked the Victoria Bed by Hillsdale Furniture as one of the key pieces of Bedroom Furniture in its set design. As the young Nina breaks in her new shoes and prepares for what she hopes is a restful night, we get a glimpse of her room. Just like the character’s life, it is caught in the twilight world between a child and woman. Stuffed animals and a music box intermingle with the tools of her trade. At the center of this room is a beautiful metal bed that looks like it is from another time. It boasts simple and elegant design with an old world charm displayed in its tiered arches. Such a bed looks like it would fit nicely in a garden room or perhaps a Victorian Era Bed and Breakfast.

Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, said that it was very disturbing to see goddess Lakshmi, who was highly revered in Hinduism and worshipped by devotees daily, on the bottle of a potion which some of its retailers claimed to increase “intensity of orgasms”. Lakshmi was meant to be worshipped in temples or home shrines and not for pushing such potions for mercantile greed.

Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, urged the manufacturer, said to be Brand New Energy, to immediately remove the image of Lakshmi from the Potion bottles which was offensive to the devotees.
