Hindus have urged urgent efforts at jobs creation and poverty reduction. Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in the message for upcoming Labor Day from Nevada (USA) today, said that a nice safe job with good salary for everyone that could support the family should be the priority and at this time of economic uncertainty, poor and vulnerable should be helped. Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, further said that people and not the objects should be the focus of all planning and programs.

India lauded for disallowing mining of “sacred” Niyamgiri Hill mountain range in Orissa

Indo-Americans have applauded India for reportedly rejecting bauxite
mining by multinational company in remote tribal area of Orissa, which
the environmentalists had described as devastating to the area
environment and tribes considered sacred.

Indo-American statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA)
today, said that Government of India apparently took into
consideration the concerns of the tribes living in the area and issues
raised by environmentalists involved and it should be commended for

Vatican lauded for voicing against Roma crackdown in France

Hindus have applauded Vatican and other Catholic leaders for
reportedly speaking against the Roma (Gypsy) crackdown in France.

“It is a step in the right direction”, Hindu statesman Rajan Zed said
in a statement in Nevada (USA) today and added that other religious
elite of Europe should also come out openly against the reported
maltreatment of Roma communities in France, which smelled of
xenophobia, racism, and intolerance.

Interfaith panel discussion on “God” in Nevada to mark 9/11

**Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC) is organizing a panel discussion
on “God” on September 11 in Reno (Nevada, USA), which will portray how
different faith traditions define and view “God”.

A Christian pastor, Muslim imam, Hindu leader, Buddhist priest, Jewish
rabbi, and an Atheist thinker will explain and discuss “God” and shall
answer related questions in it. Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, who is also
Director Interfaith Relations of Nevada Clergy Association, is the
