White House 2013 Budget & AAPIs

President Obama sent his budget for the 2013 fiscal year to Congress earlier today. Below are details about how his budget creates security for Asian American and Pacific Islander families. This year’s budget reflects the President’s firm belief that our country has always done best when everyone gets a fair shot, everyone does their fair share and everyone plays by the same rules. It’s a document built around the recognition that this is a make or break moment for the middle class and those trying to reach it. What’s at stake is the very survival of the basic American promise that if you work hard, you can do well enough to raise a family, own a home and put a little away for retirement. This budget continues the Obama Administration’s commitment to keeping that promise alive by creating an economy that’s built to last – with good jobs that pay well and security for the middle class.

Kolkata, Oct 22 (Washington Bangla Radio / IBNS) Tollywood director, actor and singer Anjan Dutta (WBRi Interview) on Friday promoted Cinenine’s maiden venture called “Jaani Dekha Hobe” (Bengali, 2011) in Kolkata.

He praised director Birsa Dasgupta by stating that he is the “most talented young filmmaker in the industry” who has made a film that claims to be different in every way.

“I don't have anything to prove as an actor and so I only work in projects that interest me. I have only acted in this film because it met that criteria and I believe it is going to be a remarkable movie,” Dutta said.

Jani Dekha Hobey” is touted as a “roller coaster comic love flick” between a wannabe model Hiya (played by Tollywood Kolkata Bengali Movie actress Payel Sarkar) and an aspiring musician Megh (Parambrata Chatterjee [interview]) with a mysterious character of Ishwar (Anjan Dutta) added to the mix.

Rupa Ganguly (interview)playing the character of Meenakshi in the movie said, “I didn’t act much but my character is a very sweet character without whom the movie would be incomplete and I must say that it has been a wonderful experience for me.”

Actor Parambrata Chatterjee was all praises for the stellar star cast and he articulated his joy in being a part of the venture by saying, “I am very happy to have been a part of this movie, especially because I could share screen space with Anjanda.”

Popular Tollywood heroine Payel said that she initially “had a fear of being overwhelmed” because of the presence of “many brilliant actors” but in the end the experience proved to be great for her.

“I believe a lot of credit goes to Birsa for keeping his head calm and guiding me throughout the film,” she said.

City based singer and composer Anupam Roy (interview)has just lent his voice this time round for compositions from music directors Indradeep Dasgupta and Neel Dutta, instead of composing himself.

“I have never done anything like this before but it felt great working with them (Indradeep and Neel) and I hope I have done justice to the songs,” Anupam said.

The film is scheduled to hit theatres on the last week of November this year.
