ECI writes to Prez against Salman Khurshid

 
 
New Delhi, Feb 11 (IBNS) With Union Law Minister Salman Khurshid repeatedly defying the Election Commission of India at campaigns for the ongoing Uttar Pradesh elections, the ECI on Saturday wrote to President Pratibha Devi Singh Patil to act against the senior Congress leader. 

Uttar Pradesh: 59 pc turnout in Phase II

 

Lucknow, Feb 11 (IBNS): Around 59 percent turnout was recorded in the second phase of polling in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday.

Despite stray violent incidents, the overall polling was peaceful and the slow balloting in the morning gained momentum as the day progressed. 

HAL hold Churchill Brothers

 

Fatorda, Goa, Feb 11 (IBNS) Churchill Brothers received a major set-back to its I League campaign, when they played 1-1 draw with bottom placed HAL Bangalore, at the Nehru Stadium, Fatorda on Sunday.

Jagaba Amaba opened the scoring for HAL in 8th minute only for Roberto Mendes Silva to cancel the lead in 87th minute for Churchill Brothers.

Churchill Brothers now have 34 points from 19 outings while HAL Bangalore are at 7 points from 20 matches.

 
 

Lajong upset East Bengal apple cart

 

Shillong, Feb 11 (IBNS) Shillong Lajong came from behind to earn full points as they scored an upset win over Kingfisher East Bengal 2-1, in the 20th round I League encounter, played at the JN Sport Complex on Saturday.

East Bengal foreign recruit Tolgay Ozbey opened the score in 4th minute. While John Menyongar restored parity for the Shillong Lajong in 12th minute and Eugeneson Lyngdoh doubled the lead in 16th minutes.

Odafa rescue Bagan again

 

Kolkata, Feb 11 (IBNS) : Odafa Okolie proved the savior yet again for McDowells Mohun Bagan as they registered a 2-1 victory over Mumbai FC at the Yuba Bharati Krinangan, on Saturday.

For Mumbai FC, Friday Gbeneme scored in the 24th minute, while Odafa scored both goals for Mohun Bagan in the 74th and 81st minutes.

The match started off with Mumbai FC looking the better of the two sides with some creative work by their midfielders and forwards.
