Bengali Films Announced: M COM CHOWMEIN and HANDCUFF Tollywood Movies by Sanat Dutta

CALCUTTA, Dec 13, 2010 (Washington Bangla Radio) The 4-Star Luxury Floating Hotel Floatel on the river Ganges in Kolkata witnessed a gala event to release the music album for the Tollywood film Handcuff along with press release for the Bengali movie M COM CHOWMEIN on September Six, 2010.

Both the films are directed by veteran Sanat Dutta and produced by M. Roy Productions.

Handcuff has a great star cast of Rituparna Sengupta, Samrat Mukherjee, Rajatabha Dutta and others. Lyricist of the film is Priyo Chattopadhyay whereas music has been directed by Rupendu Sekhar Basu.

Solo songs Keno E Mone by Shaan and Ei Jibone Phire Phire Ashe by Sadhna Sargam are good to listen to, whereas Masti De Na Masti by Alka Yagnik is a good item number.

M Com Chowmein is a love story blended with action. The film stars Miss India 2005 Sayali Bhagat, Satish Kaushik, Sarovar Ahuja and others.

Interview | Director GOUTAM GHOSH: Many Were Surprised When Prosenjit Was Selected As Lalan Fakir in Moner Manush

Tollywood movie super-star Prosenjit Chatterjee has delivered the role of Lalon in a way that critics are saying from now on, whenever they think of Lalon, Prosenjit's image will flash across their mind.

Subhomoy Mukherjee caught up with Goutam Ghosh in Kolkata and had a little informal chat about Moner Manush just after Ghosh returned from the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Goa,  where an international jury presented the revered Golden Peacock award to the film. The master film-maker talks about Lalon, Rabindranath Tagore, Prosenjit and Moner Manush in this exclusive audio broadcast.

CALCUTTA, Dec 12, 2010 (Washington Bangla Radio) Kolkata witnessed one for the biggest nights for the Bangla TV industry when the Big Bangla Television Awards 2010 was held at the Nazrul Manch on 12th December 2010 to celebrate Bangla television and honour the small screen characters.

The awards had a jury comprising of eminent actress Kheyali Dastidar, noted compere Madhumanti Maitra and the ace DOP Soumik Haldar whose recent work includes Autograph (Bengali, 2010) [director Srijit Mukherjee exclusive interview].

The viewers voted for their favourite characters through SMS and physical ballots. The event had been promoted from beforehand through radio, television, ground activation and other means.

There were quite a few live performances on the night which included performances by Rupam Islam (including Fossils), Nachiketa, National award winning Ananya Chatterjee (exclusive interview) who performed a number and a host of other popular faces on television such as Bhaswar, Riju, Monami, Sonalee, Sudipta, Koneenica, Manoj and Sagnik.

[Gorosthane Sabdhan]Calcutta, December 9, 2010 (Washington Bangla Radio) Film-maker Sandip Ray continues the crime-mystery investigation series of Feluda movies started by his father, acclaimed Academy Award-winning Indian movie-maker Satyajit Ray, with Gorosthaney Shabdhan (Bengali, 2010), meaning Beware In The Graveyard or Trouble in the Graveyard.

The new Feluda film has a star-cast of Sabyasachi Chakraborty as Feluda, Saheb Bhattacharya as Topshe, Bibhu Bhattacharya as Lalmohon Ganguly orofe Jatayu, Tinnu Anand and others.

Shaheb Bhattacharya's father is the veteran soccer player Subrata Bhattacharya. The role of Topshe was previously played in Sandip Ray's Feluda films by actor Parambrata Chatterjee.

Reports suggest Gorosthane Sabdhan will be the last Feluda film featuring Sabyasachi Chakraborty as the detective.

Bappaditya Bandopadhyay's SHILPANTAR (Bengali, 2002) Free Video-On-Demand Bangla Movie Release By Rajshri

[image: Shilpantar / Shilpantor Bengali film poster]Calcutta, Dec 7, 2010 (Washington Bangla Radio) Directed by critically acclaimed film-maker Bappaditya Bandopadhyay (WBRi exclusive interview), the award-winning film Shilpantor released in 2002 in Kolkata.

The film is adapted by Bappaditya from a striking story written by Bengali writer Shirsendu Mukhopadhyay.

The title is an indication of the overarching plot of change in trade by a rural painter moving to the city and performing shows eating live animals.

The star cast includes Debashree Roy, Subhasish Mukherjee, Mrinal Mukherjee, Nimai Ghosh, Suchitra Mitra and others. Debasree Roy and Subhasis Mukherjee delivered stunning acting performances in the film.

Calcutta, Dec 6, 2010 (Washington Bangla Radio) Khelein Hum Ji Jan Se (Hindi, 2010) - abbreviated in Bollywood style to KHJJS - is Ashutosh Gowariker’s latest period epic about Masterda Surya Sen, one of the bravest heroes of India's freedom movement, the mastermind of 'The Chittagong Uprising' between 1930-34 which stirred a revolution in the entire country.

Masterda had led one particular group of 64 mostly teenagers, 5 revolutionaries and two fearless women on one particular night in 1930 to carry out calculated attacks on the British at 5 places in Chittagong, which created a revolution in the country.

Calcutta, Dec 6, 2010 (Washington Bangla Radio) The newly eightpack equipped Tollywood Bengali hero JEET and popular Kolkata Bengali movie actress Srabanti are appearing in the forthcoming film FIGHTER (2011) directed by Ravi Kinagi. Fighter also stars Locket Chatterjee and the Tollywood hero from Bangladesh Ferdous.

Music of Fighter is is by Indradip Dasgupta. The film went on the floors in March 2010 and is shortly going to be ready for release.

Germantown, Maryland, Dec 5, 2010 (Washington Bangla Radio) Mahanayak Uttam Kumar and Bengali actress Sabitri Chatterji starred as the lead pair in the 1954 Tollywood Bengali feature film Champa Dangar Bou. Others in the star cast include  Kanu Bannerjee, Anubha Gupta, Tulsi Chakraborty Uttam Kumar Kanu Bannerjee and Tulsi Chakraborty.

Chapadangar Bou is a classic Bengali romance-drama movie directed by Nirmal Dey.

The story revolves around Kadambini, the wife of the local head of village council. Kadambini is also known as Champa Dangar Bou.
