KKN Bangla Sangeet Purashkar 2011 - Calcutta (Kolkata) Bengali Film and Music Awards Nominations List Announced

Calcutta, Jan 24, 2011 (Washington Bangla Radio) One of the biggest musical events to be held in the immediate future will be the KKN Bangla Sangeet Purashkar 2011 which will be held at Science City Auditorium, Science City,2011.The nominations for the event were announced at Urbana recently where the brand ambassadors of FM 91.9 Fm Friends Pt Ajoy Chakraborty and Usha Uthup were present and also spoke on the occassion.

There will be 5 major awards –Rabindrasangeet, Bangla Adhunik, Bangla Film, Bangla Band and a special Lifetime Achievement. The winners will be chosen by SMSes which will be sent by the audience. The nominations have been chosen through a process based on the weekly ABP Bangla Top Ten listing which has been arrived at after a thorough research carried out involving album sales, research and play outs on radio. The final winners will be chosen from the nominations based on people’s choice by means of voting,online,SMSes and physical voting at booths and forms in newspapers.

Others like Kaushik Kumar Nath, MD, KKN Group of Companies and also the principal sponsors of the event and Kaushik Banerjee-Vice President of ABP Pvt Ltd also spoke on the occasion.

There will also be some great live performances by various artistes and it will be a great event considering it is an event of 91.9 fm friends event.

Berlin, Jan 21, 2011 (Washington Bangla Radio) The International Jury, presided over by Isabella Rossellini, will decide who is to take home the Golden Bear and the Silver Bears as well as the Alfred Bauer Prize in the Competition of the 61st Berlinale.

The other members of the Jury are producer Jan Chapman, actress Nina Hoss, actor, producer and director Aamir Khan, director Guy Maddin, costume designer Sandy Powell and director Jafar Panahi.

Isabella Rossellini is one of the most renowned actresses in international cinema. In recent years she has also made her mark as a producer and director. The daughter of Swedish actress Ingrid Bergman and Italian director Roberto Rossellini has played in more than 40 feature films and worked with such directors as Robert Zemeckis, Joel Schumacher, Peter Weir, Abel Ferrara, Peter Greenaway and David Lynch or John Schlesinger, with whom she filmed The Innocent in Berlin in 1992. She celebrated her international breakthrough in 1986 with Lynch’s cult film Blue Velvet. She was a guest at the Berlinale for the first time in 1994 as the leading actress in Fearless. In 2005 she presented the short film My Dad is 100 Years Old, a tribute to her father. She returned in 2007 as narrator to Guy Maddin’s Brand Upon The Brain! and in 2008 she presented her directorial debut Green Porno about the sex life of insects. In autumn 2010, filming was finished on Late Bloomers (Berlinale Special 2011), the romantic comedy directed by Julie Gavras in which Isabella Rossellini stars alongside William Hurt.

"Weta Digital VFX supervisor Matt Aitken says that the studio is proud of its long-standing relationship with Media Design School and is thrilled that Media Design School has two films selected for the finals of the VES (Visual Effects Society) Awards in Los Angeles this year. Das Tub and Time For Change were both animated by Rupert Ashton, Priyan Jayamaha, Junying Xu and Kirsten Dale Pretorius from the school’s Advanced 3D Productions course."
