famous drummer from the reputed Kolkata Bengali Band LAKKHICHARA
is Gaurab Chatterjee. Gabu is also a background score composer
and music director of Kolkata Tollywood Bengali movies including KAGOJER BOU and NECKLACE (2010). Subhomoy
Mukherjee of Washington Bangla Radio talks to Gaurav in this informal
and intimate interview. Somnath Dasgupta (complete

Feb 17, 2010 (Washington Bangla Radio) Born in Chinsura, Hooghly in the state of West Bengal, Banashree Sengupta was initially trained by her father - classical vocalist Sailendranath Roy. She later took singing lessons from Rajen Bannerjee.
Banasree moved to Kolkata after marrying Santi Sengupta, and was tutored and mentored by the legendary bengali music director Sudhin Dasgupta for almost two decades. Banasree also learnt music of various genres from Sarbashri Prabir Majumdar, Neeta Sen, Sagiruddin Khan, Usha Ranja Mukherjee, Sailen Banerjee, Dinendra Chowdhury, Santosh Sengupta, and Kamal Ganguly.
From a very early age, Banasree is a senior artist of All India Radio (Akashbani) and the pseudo-government controlled Indian Television Broadcast house "Doordarshan". Banasree is contracted with HMV - now Saregama Plc. - since 1966.

Stage, All India Radio and Doordarshan.Shankar Bhattacharya, born in Burnpur at the IISCO managed Burnpur Hospital, is the youngest of four children. His three elder sisters are married. Shankar's father has retired from IISCO. His mother, the sweetest person of his family, unfortunately passed away in 2006. Shankar currently lives with his father in Vaishno Tower in Burnpur.
Shankar founded the Bengali Rock Band named GaanDHaar. The band's compositions are cross-genre, including soft-rock, folk-rock and fusion music. GaanDHaar are: Saikat, Souvik, Ranjan, Avijit & Shankar. Shankar writes songs and composes music for GaanDhaar - his guiter helps him do so.He expresses his feelings ofsorrow, happiness and encouragement with his songs.
