Maoist leader killed in WB encounter

 


Kolkata, Feb 5 (IBNS) A Maoist leader was killed in an encounter with the combined forces in West Bengal's West Midnapore district on Sunday.

Police said the deceased leader of the Maoist is identified as Yudhistir alias Arjun. The encounter occurred at Belpahari region of West Midnapore's Jangalmahal.

The killing of the Maoist is seen as a major success of the combined forces after the killing of top Maoist leader Kishenji last year November. 

Azad calls for collaboration in health research

 

New Delhi, Feb 5 (IBNS) Union Health and Family Welfare Minister  Ghulam Nabi Azad has urged the South Asian Forum for Health Research (SAFHeR) to explore ways for strengthening collaboration by sharing innovative methods for tackling the problems faced by the region's countries.

“Be it poverty, be it disease, be it natural disaster, the destiny of South Asia is interlinked and we must, therefore, work together to deal with these challenges,” Azad said.

After 1-0 win against Air India, Churchill is ready to take on Mumbai FC and anything but full points will satisfy Manuel Gomes’ side as they have been handed a chance to bridge the gap with Dempo with a match in hand.

Fatorda, Goa, Feb 5 (IBNS)  Prayag United SC will be highly motivated for their 19th round I-league clash against Salgaocar Sports Club as the Kolkata side can move to the second spot at the Nehru Stadium, Fatorda on Monday.

India go down by 65 runs in first rain-affected ODI

 

Melbourne, Feb 5 (IBNS) India made a disastrous start to the tri-series losing the first rain-affected ODI against Australia by 65 runs via the Duckworth Lewis Method at the Melbourne Cricket Ground here Sunday.

Australia riding on debutant batsman-wicketkeeper Matthew Wade’s 67 and David Hussey’s 61 made 261 for five from 32 overs. The match was reduced to 32 overs per side after a three-hour rain delay early in the innings.
