New York, NY, March 8, 2013 (Washington Bangla Radio): Three-time Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter, actor and philanthropist NE-YO has signed singer/songwriter and burgeoning ingénue Sonna Rele to a recording contract with renowned music label Universal Motown. With intent to make the occasion memorable, NE-YO - also the Senior Vice President of Artist & Repertoire (A&R) at the recording shop - surprised Sonna by presenting her with the life-altering record deal onstage during his performance at MasterCard’s “Priceless Gig” show, held March 7 in London, England. NE-YO discovered Sonna, a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, while perusing her captivating 'MusicMonday' clips on her Facebook page.

Kolkata, March 8, 2013 (Washington Bangla Radio): With the objective showcasing the brilliant works by the young artists of West Bengal, the ‘Colours’ group came up with their second group show of Paintings and Sculptures.  The exhibition was inaugurated by eminent personalities from the field of art including eminent painter Dheeraj Chowdhury, art critic Mrinal Ghosh, Professor Mihir Chakraborty, painter Rajib Sur Roy and Prasanta Daw. The curator of this exhibition was Debasish Mullick Chowdhury.

This exhibition featured the works of seven artists from various parts of West Bengal. Debadeep Ghosh, Malay Jana, Pravat Kumar Manna, Sanjay Samanta, Shakti Das, Subrata Karmakar and Tushar Das are the artists who are showcasing their arts to the people. Subrata Karmakar was the only artist dealing with sculptures. All other artists showcased their paintings. Watch a slideshow of some of the wonderful paintings and sculpture from the exhibition.

The forthcoming Bengali film "Haoa Bodol" released it's music album on Feb 28 at a major shopping mall in south Kolkata.

Haoabadol is directed by Parambrata Chattopadhyay. The music director is Indradeep Dasgupta, who has composed music to lyrics penned by Angshuman and Prosen.

Kolkata, March 6, 2013 (Washington Bangla Radio): Rupam Sarmah and his team of 500 musicians with their 315 kinds of musical instruments created a new Guinness World Record in the category of “Most number of unique instruments used in a musical composition”. The group performed for thirty-two minutes and broke the earlier record by a Japanese group. which had performed with 181 instruments for a seven-minute Japanese song.

V. Raman in 1928 on same day. Raman Effect is a phenomenon in spectroscopy discovered by the eminent physicist while working in the laboratory of the Indian Association for the Cultivation of science - IACS, Kolkata. It’s indeed a matter of Pride that Chandrasekara Venkata Raman popularly known as CV Raman was the first Indian, Asian and non white to win the coveted Nobel Prize.
