Benny And Babloo is an upcoming 2010 Indian Hindi satirical comedy film expected to have a release date in August, 2010 under the banner of Chamunda Films.

The director is Yunus Sajawal and the actors and actresses include Kay Kay Menon, Rajpal Yadav, Riya Sen, Shweta Tiwari, Rukhsar Natassha, Richa Chadda, Maushumi Udeshi, Hiten Paintal, Aasif Sheikh and others. The film is produced by Umesh Chouhan.

Synopsis

Washington Bangla Radio Exclusive: The hero - a painter who forgets to paint and spends all his time pursuing a girl. The heroine – Raima who sees the guy just a couple of times and starts falling in love with him. The villain - Raima's tyrant of a brother J.K, a criminal who can't bear to see anyone get close to his sister. Raima comes to know that her brother is sending her away to London so she flees to Rahul’s house who leaves town with her. J.K ‘s men land up there and kill Rahul’s father.

Even though Rahul and Raima go out of town, the cops arrest Rahul from that place and beat him up severely in the jail. He is released later, but the lawyer who helps Raima asks her to compromise along with the other cops and they try to molest her. Rahul somehow arrives there and saves Raima. J.K’s men again arrive there and nearly beat Rahul to his death and bring back.

Rahul emerges from the dead all of a sudden and captures J.K. He publicly ‘marries‘ Raima by holding J.K at gunpoint. He takes the dupatta from Raima, throws it on to the ground, lights a fire and he and Raima go around it seven times and what have you – they are married. To top it all, Rahul‘s mother blows a conch from the side to warm up the proceedings.

If this not a film, what else can it be? Incredible is the only word. Hilarious! Regarding performances, there is nothing much to speak about anyone. Tanushree, a very renowned model of Kolkata who makes her debut as Raima is just about okay. Sujoy is not much of an actor. Tanima Sen one feels is wasted as her actual forte is comedy. Victor Banerjee too is wasted and though he plays the part of a struggling film director with a ridiculous wig with a huge pony tail, he seems to be miscast. The songs by newcomer Sanchayita are below average. Usually Bengali films have featured locations abroad only in films of renowned big time producers, but even in this case a couple of songs have been shot in Bangkok which makes it an exception. Rajesh Sharma as usual is okay.

Tanusree definitely needs to act better if she wants to stay in films otherwise she can go back to the ramp. Excessive drama at the end with such an absurd ending does the film no good. The most interesting thing about BANDHU ESHO TUMI probably is that the music director is a lady.

Acclaimed Bengali and Bollywood film-maker Bappaditya Bandopadhyay talks to Subhomoy Mukherjee in this extensive, informal and intimate interview on Washington Bangla Radio.

We always expect something different to watch , something different to think whenever we go for a movie by Bappadityo Bandopadhyay.

Bappadityo started his career with Television, specially telefilms, and as assistant director for movies.

That time he came in touch with Film Director cum Musician Gautam Chattopadhyay ( of Mahiner Ghodaguli ) whom he knew from his childhood.

Working with Gautam changed the focus and vision of Bappadityo and he felt the urge within himself to make feature films of his own.

In 1998 he made his first feature, Sampradan. As he was not aware about economics and distribution part of filmdom that time, he could not reach to all with Sampradan rather he could not popularize Sampradan.

After Sampradan, he made critically acclaimed film Shilpantar based on a short story by famous author, Shirshendu Mukherjee.

After Shilpantar he was in Bollywood for years and that time he debuted there with award winning “Devki”

After Devki he returned in Tollywood and made “Kantatar” which made Bappdityo a Bengali household name as director.

After Kantatar, he made Kaal on flesh trade racket and Housefull as his autobiographical.

In the meantime he started his career as a producer with the film Hello Kolkata made by his friend Manoj.

Right now he is very busy with last minute works of his present directional, Kagojer Bou, based on another Shirshendu novel and starting of his next feature.

Kagojer Bou casts Paoli, Rahul, Priyanka, Bratyo, Nandini, Joy among others and Gaurav aka Gabu from Laxmichada starts his career as film music director with this film. Bappadityo made this film very contemporary with a story of merely 40 years ago.

He not only experiments with subjects but also with new actors as well as versatility of established and popular actors by utilizing them in completely new kind of characters to them.

He truly maintains and follows the Tollywood gharana started by trio Satyajit-Ritwik-Mrinal, who incidentally his favourite directors too among others, and we hope to see more and more qualitative works from this creative genius.

We also wish all the success for Kagojer Bou as well as all future Bappadityo ventures.

Pulsar MTV Stuntmania Reloaded - Indian TV Show

The second season of MTV Stunt Mania, titled Pulsar MTV Stuntmania Reloaded, began airing on Saturday the 24th of July, 2010 at 7 PM Indian time.

The stunt-biking show offers the participants the Himalayan Challenge in season 2. The show is hosted by Anushkha Manchanda of Fear-Factor fame and famous stunt-biker Allan Amin. The competitors are divided into four teams, each with a leader and two other team members.

The auditions for Stunt Mania Reloaded featured the Stunt Mania Rockathon, billed by MTV as India's first Bike and Rock Festival. The selection process was accompanied with live performances by the popular band Parikrama, and were held in Shillong, Delhi, Pune, Chennai, Kolkata and Bhopal.

A young man Apratim (Subrata Dutta) is romatically involved with Ranjita (Aparajita Ghosh Das), the daughter of the veteran crimelord Durgaprasad (Soumitra Chatterjee). Durgaprasad's telephone service is suspended because of delinquency on bills, and Durgaprasad dispatches his strongman Montu Singh (Kanchan Mallick) to pay off the huge pending bill. In a twist of fate, human error causes the money to be allocated to the account of Apratim, resulting in Durgaprasad's ire and Ranjita's disclosure of the situation to her friends who get in touch with a rival mafia lord Muktadhara to see if Apratim can be saved. In these highly tense circumstances, Durgaprasad has a dream and wakes up at 10:10, bringing in seismic shifts in his character.

On 7th July, 2010 we got the opportunity to experience dancing of famous singer Swagatalaxmi Dasgupto with another legendary dancer, BBC award winner Anurekha Ghosh at Rabindrasadan, Kolkata.

Every year, in memory of her father; Classical Legend Late Shri Pabitro Dasgupto, Swagatalaxmi arranges the annual function of her institution Ashokrenu. Ashokrenu has completed its journey of one era as it is 12 years old now.

Anchored by elocutionist Alok Roy Ghatak, the program had three major parts; - Dance drama Chitrangada by Rabindranath Tagore, felicitation of another famous singer Lopamudra Mitro and solo program of Swagatalaxmi compromising songs of her own composition.

The sound was very good that day.

The conception of set and the lighting for Chitrangada was awesome specially presence of bow and arrow in front of a tree and a idol of a girl dressed partly as boy as and partly as girl indicates the story of Chitrangada very clearly.

Rabindranath conceptualized story of Chitrangada from Mahabharata where Manipur princess Chitrangada, who always dressed as boy as per her father’s wish, met Pandav Arjun at the time of his 14 years of absconding at the time of hunting in forest. She felt in love with him so prayed to God of Love, Madan to become feminine and beautiful and she became with his blessings. Then she went to Arjun, who was in sainthood but felt in love with her but after listening to everybody felt his love for Chitrangada as she was before getting blessings from Madan. Then Chitrangada realized the actual essence of love and went to Madan to get her actual look. She got and came to Arjun who accepted her and they married.

The dance drama used voices of Ashokrenu disciples as well as Swagatalaxmi for songs and interpretation of Chitrangada even the performers on stage were none but students of Ashokrenu along with Swagatalaxmi and Anurekha, who is eventually taking her singing lessons from Swagata by the side of her dancing.

The singing part was very good but they might use male voice for male characters in stead of female voices. After her performance as mother in Chandalika, Swagata was more matured in her second attempt as dancer as Kurupa Chitrangada (Chitrangada in male dress) but her steps were slower than expectation as per the character demanded. The dancer as Arjun has to improve as lot. We thought sometimes that he was dancing forcibly!! Madan was good but excellent was Anurekha as Surupa Chitrangada ( feminine Chitrangada ). We really appreciated her dancing skills and she truly ruled the stage as long as she was present on stage.

The middle part was felicitation of Lopamudra Mitro by Swagatalaxmi on behalf of Ashokrenu. Every year Ashokrenu, in memory of Late Pabitro Dasgupto, felicitates one young legend for his or her contribution in cultural field. Lopa was very cordial through out her speech.

The last part was solo presentation of Swagata where she excelled with every presentation and showed her command to sing hymns (slokas) with proper pronunciation and music as well as lyricist and composer. We hope to listen more songs of her own lyric and music again and again.

Many eminent personalities including actor-cum-singer Arjun Chakraborty were present at auditorium that day.

Dostana 2 (Hindi, 2011) - Katrina Kaif, Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham

The Dostana (2008) [Dostana Blu-ray DVD Sale] characters Sameer, Kunal and Neha return in 2011 in the sequel Dostana-2 (2011) directed by Tarun Mansukhani and produced by Karan Johar / Dharma Productions.

Katrina Kaif will pick up Priyanka Chopra's lead female role in the sequel, while Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham will step in as the lead male pair (who fudged being a gay couple in the original Dostana to be able to rent an apartment in Miami, FL, USA). Priyanka Chopra will appear in a cameo role in the sequel.

According to reports, Riteish Deshmukh and Shreyas Talpade will play a gay couple from Punjab in the sequel.

At this point, it is not clear if the storyline has four gay men or two. Arjun Rampal also seems to be in the star cast of Dostana-2.

Dostana was also the title of a 1980 Bollywood classic super-hit movie starring Amitabh Bachchan, Shatrughan Sinha, Zeenat Aman, Prem Chopra, Amrish Puri and others. The golden oldie Dostana is available on DVD here.

Krrish 2 (2011) - Shahrukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone

Krrish (2006) [Krrish - 2 Disc Collector's Edition DVD Sale]was a Bollywood superhero sci-fi blockbuster film that extended another Bollywood movie "Koi Mil Gaya" (2003) [Koi Mil Gaya DVD]. Krrish continued the story of Krishna (Krrish) - the son of the previous film's hero who inherited his father's supernatural powers.

According to reports, in Krrish 2, Krrish (played by Hrithik Roshan) will be up against an adversary with great superhuman powers, played by another Bollywood megastar Shahrukh Khan. Indications emanating from Bollywood are in the sequel, Priyanka Chopra will be replaced with Deepika Padukone as Krrish's lover.

Krrish-2 will also have the evergreen Rekha and Riya Sen in the star cast. The film is expected to have a release date in 2011.

As reported by Washington Bangla Radio way back in January (click here to watch exclusive shooting videos of songs), Endhiran is a big-budget 2010 sci-fi Tamil Movie directed by S. Shankar and produced by Kalanidhi Maran. Endhiran is a movie about a robot - an android and sees the Tamil cinema debut of Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachcha who will co-star with south Indian superstar Rajnikanth. Danny Denzongpa, Santhanam, Karunas and more are also in the cast. Oscar winner Allah Rakha Rahman is composing and directing music for Endhiran. This may be the most expensive film ever made in India.

Pope criticized for charging for mass

Hindus have criticized His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI for charging for
mass on his upcoming Glasgow (United Kingdom) visit.

One should not be charged to listen to the “word of God”, Hindu
statesman Rajan Zed stated in Nevada (USA) today.

Rajan Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, argued
that it could be a real burden on a devotee who had a large family.

This is first Papal trip to Scotland in 28 years and there is
reportedly a cost involved for the faithful (including children) to go
see the Pope in Bellahouston Park on September 16, where he is
