The Tollywood Indian Kolkata Bengali movie industry has always ridden high with crime mystery genre movies, especially with cinematic adaptations of iconic sleuths like Feluda, Kakababu and Byomkesh Bakshi. It is rightly said that Bengali literature has some of the best detectives in the world. Another such well-known detective is going to hit the big screen in the form of Arjun, the highly popular sleuth and an immortal character created by writer Samaresh Majumdar.

Fashion Designer Betsey Johnson joins hands with Molecule Communications to present Fashion Fiesta For A Cause (FFFAC). The designer will go “Bollywood Style" as she revisits her closet bringing never before seen vintage pieces to sashay down the runway. FFFAC will take place on Thursday, May 23rd, at the exquisite Angel Orensanz Foundation of Contemporary Art in New York City.  This cross cultural event will bring Hollywood celebrities and fashion together to raise funds for students of Women’s Education Project (WEP), a non-profit organization helping young women living on less than $1 a day in India, to succeed in college and careers.

“Mon Pinjiraye”, a Bengali Lok Sangeet (folk songs) album by Saibal Das was launched at Music Café recently. Present at the music launch were Kartick Das Baul, Amar Pal (famous for singing the song ‘Kotoi rongo dekhi duniyai’), Anindyo Sarkar (director), Gaurab Chatterjee, Mainak Bumpy Nag Chowdhury, Abhijit Basu (Folk Singer) and TV serial personalities Soumyo and Sorolipi (of Agnipariksha fame).
