Shobdo (Sound) Bangla Movie Review: Unique Narrative Style, Surreal Scenes and Symbolism in World-Class Indian Film

Shobdo Indian Kolkata Bangla Movie Poster WallpaperArtists have a tendency to get lost in their own worlds of creation which makes them less attendant to regular matters that often are important to general people. Kaushik Ganguly’s world-class directorial venture ‘Shobdo’ tells a spellbinding story about how a Foley artist gradually gets engulfed by his own world of Foley sounds and starts ignoring human voices.

Arindam Ghosh Films and Chhandayan Present KAUSHIKI CHAKRABORTY in Concert in Washington: Tickets, Venue, Time and Information

Kaushiki Chakrabarty Concert in Washington DC

Washington, DC, May 1, 2013 (Washington Bangla Radio): Arindam Ghosh Films and Chhandayan present an unmissable vocal concert by Kaushiki Chakraborty on June 16, 2013 from 6 PM – 9 PM.  The concert will be held at the Universities at Shady Grove, 9630 Gudelsky Drive, Rockville, MD 20850 in the greater Washington, DC Metro area.  Kaushiki will be accompanied by Mayookh Bhaumik on Tabla and Ajay Joglekar on Harmonium.

Connoisseurs agree that Kaushiki is, quite simply, the best Hindustani vocalist of her generation. She could reproduce Hindustani classical vocal patterns at the age of two. Maestros visiting the ITC Sangeet Research Academy, where Kaushiki grew up would hurl the most complex of patterns at her, using only the 'aa' vowel instead of pronouncing the notes, and wait for her to identify the notes and reproduce the patterns. This is something she could do instantly and consistently. At 12, she was a scholar at the ITC SRA, at 14, she was on a 50-concert tour in the US with her father and guru Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty, at 16, she took the world of music by storm with her first solo concert in Delhi.

  • Who: Kaushiki Chakrabarty
  • What: Indian Classical Vocal
  • When: June 16, 2013, 6 – 9 PM
  • Where: Universities at Shady Grove, 9630 Gudelsky Drive, Rockville, MD 20850
  • Tickets: $50, $30, and $20 ($30 ticket at $25 with student id): Purchase tickets online or by email or phone from Arindam Ghosh (aghosh1972@gmail.com, 6173208760) or Debapriya Nayak (chhandayanva@gmail.com, 7037953019)
